Together/Apart was Grieves' debut album on the Rhymesayers Entertainment label imprint. Teaming up with longtime friend and producer Budo, Together/Apart is infused with soulful horns, keys, and guitar. Lyrically, the album encompasses both the difficulties and joys of maintaining professional and personal relationships when on the road and back at home [5]. The initial pressing of Together/Apart featured a bonus DVD entitled Present/Tense, a biography-style documentary which gave listeners an inside look at what inspired Together/Apart, as well as live and behind the scenes footage. [5] The album was recorded between 2010 and 2011 and was released by Rhymesayers Entertainment on June 21, 2011.
The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at number 106. The album also claimed number 21 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts, number 1 on the Heatseekers chart, number 18 on the Independent album chart and number 13 on the Top Rap Albums chart. [6]
Singles
The following singles were accompanied by videos which lead into the release of the album, "Light Speed" [7], "Bloody Poetry" [2] & "On The Rocks" [3]. "Against the Bottom" [4] was released about one month following the release of the full album.
