Plot

A group of five survivors, armed with shotguns, axes and machetes, wander the back roads of a ravaged landscape looking for refuge in The Day, a terrifying look into a post-apocalyptic future. As war ravages humanity, destroying civilization and most of life on earth, the survivors realize they must do whatever it takes to stay alive. Lost, starving, and exhausted, they seek shelter in a seemingly safe abandoned farmhouse. However, while searching for food and resources, they unwittingly set off a trap signaling to their ruthless predators lying in wait to begin their deadly attack. With food and ammunition dwindling, the group must make a desperate final stand—over a 24-hour period—battling for their ultimate survival. [4][5]

Synopsis

Adam looks for supplies inside an empty house in a ravaged suburban community leaving his wife and daughter alone in the car outside, who then get dragged away by an unseen force. He teams up with four people, Rick, Shannon, and Henson whom he considers as his family and a young woman with unknown origins named Mary, while walking down a deserted road. They soon seek refuge in a seemingly abandoned farmhouse in the countryside due to Henson’s deteriorating condition. The men assign the two women to be the watchers outside while they stay in the house. Mary tries to wash her clothing in a river only to be chased by a man whom she eventually kills with a shotgun. Meanwhile, back in the house, the men discover food supplies in the basement only to discover it is a trap which kills Rick and sets off an alarm. Sensing danger, the two women head back to the house only to hear a loud alarm ringing and end up getting attacked by two intruders; one of which recognizes Mary as part of another clan.

The women successfully eliminate the intruders before Shannon, who overheard Mary’s conversation with one of the intruders, knocks Mary unconscious. The three restrain Mary in a chair and continuously threaten her by beating her until she tells to them who she really is. When she doesn’t speak, Adam, furious over Rick’s death, punches then cuts off a piece of Mary’s skin with a tribal brand of her clan burned into her thigh. Mary eventually gives in and tells Adam that she was not responsible for killing Adam's wife and daughter, and tells the story of why she left her own clan. She also tells the group that the clan who set the trap in the house is coming for them. After listening to Mary’s story, the three then reconsider bringing her to the group and burn Rick’s body. Meanwhile, the hostile clan’s leader (Michael Eklund) swears to take back what’s theirs. The four start to barricade the entire house as they prepare themselves for the oncoming battle. At night, the opposing clan invades the house where the four start to shoot them through the windows but Henson is captured and killed.

The leader’s enmity fuels up even more when Shannon unintentionally kills his young son leaving his daughter to avenge for her brother’s death. In the morning, Mary insists Shannon and Adam leave out of the back while she confronts the remaining enemy clan members in front of the house, only to realize Shannon had taken the shells from her shotgun. Mary gets overpowered by the leader not long before Adam comes back to help her fight off the hostile predators. Meanwhile, out in the woods Shannon’s throat is slashed by the leader’s daughter, killing her. Back at the farmhouse, Mary sets Adam's body on fire after he dies from his wounds and encounters the leader’s daughter who tries to deceive Mary as an innocent girl. Before the little girl attempts to follow and kill her, Mary decapitates her and walks away from the burning farmhouse.
