The Journal of Literacy Research is a peer-reviewed academic journal that publishes papers in the field of Education. The journal's editors are Douglas K. Hartman (Michigan State University), Susan Florio-Ruane (Michigan State University) and Douglas K. Kaufman (University of Connecticut) . It has been in publication since 1969 and is currently published by SAGE Publications in association with Literacy Research Association.

Scope

The Journal of Literacy Research publishes research related to literacy, language and literacy and language education from preschool through to adulthood. The interdisciplinary journal contains research and scholarly papers including original research, critical reviews of research and theoretical essays.

Abstracting and indexing

The Journal of Literacy Research is abstracted and indexed in, among other databases: SCOPUS, and the Social Sciences Citation Index. According to the Journal Citation Reports, its 2010 impact factor is 0.560, ranking it 110 out of 177 journals in the category ‘Education & Educational Research’.[1] and 43 out of 50 journals in the category ‘Psychology, Educational’. [2]
