Sonic Wild Fire is the name of the next-generation video game featuring Sonic the Hedgehog to be released exclusively on Nintendo's Wii sometime in 2007. It will be a completely different game than its Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 counterpart, Sonic the Hedgehog. It will take full advantage of the Wii's unique controller.

Known Info

  • According to SEGA's press release announcing the game, Sonic's new adventure unfolds from a storybook of the classic tale, Arabian Nights, the last several pages from the book have gone missing, and it's up to Sonic to re-create the story. Other than that, little is known about Sonic Wild Fire.
  • According to the press conference at E3, it was announced that this game will also feature mini-games, incorporating a multiplayer feature into the game.
  • According to a recent interview, other characters will appear in the game in "a different light" but Sonic will be the main star of the show. [1]
  • The game only features Sonic as a playable character. However, this is somewhat questioned as this wouldn't make sense for the Multiplayer Modes. [2]
  • Unlike other Sonic games, Sonic is on autopilot in Wild Fire, and has to be steered left and right with the Wii controller. Pushing A makes Sonic jump, flicking the control stick foward while in mid-air will make Sonic do the homing attack.

Control

Players will hold the controller horizontally, tilting it forward quickly to "dash-attack" foes. Sonic's movement will also be controlled by tilting the controller left or right, much like a steering wheel.

Besides the main campaign, Sonic Wild Fire will also have an assortment of minigames, all of which focus on the Wii's motion-sensing controller.

Trivia

  • When the game was shown at E3, the original title was "Hyper Sonic".
  • Noted in a gameplay video, if you hit fire or a spike trap, you lose 20 rings.
