Entries
On the last week of May, film producers and companies already submitted their scripts in participation with the festival. However, it will still be reviewed by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority to sort out entries. Of the 15 film entries submitted, 8 were chosen as the official entries.
Here are the 8 official entries:[1]
Official Entries
The eight films with the highest lobbying placement fee paid were chosen to be the official entries.[2][3]
- Note: Mga Kwento ni Lola Basyang was one of the 8 entries, however the producer sent a letter to MMDA to pull-out from the film festival. On October 19, 2012 it was replaced by Nora Aunor's Thy Womb.[15]

New Wave Feature Films
The year 2010 marked a new era for the MMFF when it hosted the "Tribute to Independent Cinema", a non-competitive event for the Independent genre, which the Festival later called New Wave. Five independent films were screened in Robinson's Theater as a prelude to the MMFF opening on December 25, 2010.
By 2011, MMDA Chairman Francis N. Tolentino, inspired by the continued popularity of independent films in the country and expressing his support to the genre, announced the addition of the New Wave Section to widen the scope of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).
This year, the MMFF will continue the tradition of supporting independent films through a bigger, better and bolder New Wave Section.
