Ryan Jay Reyes (born August 10, 1983 in Los Angeles, California) is a professional Filipinobasketball player in the Philippine Basketball Association and is a shooting guard for the Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters. Nicknamed "D-Energizer" for his energetic style of play, he was drafted third overall by the Sta. Lucia Realtors in 2007, a testament to his potential, as import picks in the PBA draft are used on taller prospects. In the 2008 season, Ryan delivered on his potential by winning the Rookie of the Year honor and the 2008 PBA Championship.

Player profile

Ryan "D-Energizer" Reyes is a very talented and aggressive point guard who plays unselfishly. He is known for his quick passing abilities, driving skills, solid perimeter shooting, ball handling, and rugged defense. He played alongside NBA two-time Three-point Shootout Champion Jason Kapono of the Los Angeles Lakers during his high school days in Artesia High in California.

Prior to his current PBA career, Reyes also saw action in the National Basketball Conference (NBC) and played for the Cebuana Lhuillier-sponsored national team in 2005. He was named the Fantastic Freshman during the PBL's 2007 Conference awards. In August 2007, while studying in the United States, Ryan had to decide whether to finish his last semester of Kinesiology studies at California State-Fullerton or go to the Philippines and apply for the PBA draft. He chose the latter and was drafted third overall by the Sta. Lucia Realtors. Ryan was one of the few pure point guards in the 2007 PBA Draft. His great size, athletic ability, solid perimeter shooting, driving skills, general court vision, defensive instincts, ball handling, and confidence in his abilities made him stand out from the other point guards.

Ryan was an integral part of the Sta. Lucia Realtors 2007-2008 Championship season, won PBA rookie of the year honors, and was the only rookie to play in the 2008 PBA All-Star Game. He also won the Sportsmanship award was the first rookie to win Player of the Week (December 17–23, 2007), and Player of the Month (December 2007). In 2008, Ryan was named into the RP Training Pool under coach Yeng Guiao. In 2009, Ryan was a member of the PBA's Powerade Team Pilipinas basketball team that won the Southeast Asian Basketball Association (SEABA) Championship. On May 14, 2010, The Talk 'N Text Tropang Texters traded to acquire Ryan from Sta. Lucia Realtors. D-Energizer is reportedly now set to be a part of the Smart-Gilas National Developmental Pool.

Although born and raised in the United States, Ryan's parents were both Filipino citizens at the time of his birth, making him a dual-citizen of the United States and the Republic of the Philippines. Ryan is fluent in English and can speak Tagalog.
