World Harmony Run - a global relay promoting international friendship and understanding. Sri Chinmoy is a founder of WHR.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

History

Sri Chinmoy, launched in 1987 [1][3][6] a run for international friendship, which today is called "World Harmony Run". The race was initially held every two years and then annually. The international runners team carried a torch as a symbol of friendship with now more than 100 countries.[2] The aim of the torch run is to promote understanding and the harmonious between the peoples of all nations, faiths and cultures.[7] Often the runner team visited schools and the children sometimes write essays or paint pictures.[2][5] Persons like Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Carl Lewis supported the run and already held the torch.
