Naming entries
Please don't invert proper names when starting new entries. For example, use "Peter Parker" not "Parker, Peter." Thanks. Tyoda 02:45, 5 August 2005 (UTC)
You may want to consider creating a separate article List of Honda motorcycles for your impressive work. It seems a bit long for the Honda article. Rl 06:57, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

Towns in Alberta
Hi Cadillac, hey nice work on the towns and villages in Alberta. You edited three that I watch in less than 6 minutes! Cheers. --Bookandcoffee 18:20, 24 December 2005 (UTC)
- I agree, it's pretty nice. But please remember to add the template called Canada-geo-stub to the end of the article to mark it as a stub, if it's less than 2 paragraphs (can be flexible depending on the topic; 2 paragraphs or less can be marked as a stub be such towns). -- King of Hearts | (talk) 03:56, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, I'm working as fast as I can and will modify these sites as requested by including the Alberta-geo-stub . Eventually, I'd like to get them all looking like the Calgary, Alberta entry. Cadillac 04:20, 25 December 2005 (UTC)
Hi Cadillac, hey nice work on the towns and villages in Alberta, especially Hythe, Alberta :) Come for a night and stay a while.

Alberta Provincial Highways
This is the naming convention used for all highways in Alberta. It was not my idea. Just keeping things consistent. You will note that they used to be titled simply "Alberta Highway", but all of these pages were migrated to "Alberta provincial highway" last summer (and not by me). You should locate the comments or edit summaries from this time to see how they justified it before you go and change it back. --Tyson2k 00:47, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Talk pages
Hi, just a friendly reminder that it's best to leave messages for people on their talk pages (like I am for you!) so they see the "new message" alert and also so RC patrollers don't get worried when they see a user editing another's userspace. Thanks!--ViolinGirl♪ 01:42, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
Highways and Civility
Please do not be rude. Maybe you would do well to read Wikipedia's civility policy. I was not malicious to you and I see no reason for you to write the second part of your comment. I am referring of course to this line: "...Or maybe you were not observant enough to realize that fact."
With regard to the highways, take a look at the templete and take a look at all of the Alberta highway pages (they are ALL Alberta provincial highway #). I do not know why the user who initially made that modification did not migrate the list also. If you have a problem with the way the highways are organized, then you should change them. Please be as consistent as possible however. And of course, try to be courteous to other editors. --Tyson2k 02:18, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
- No worries. Thanks for your apology. I can sometimes be a little bit too much to the point, and so I also aplogize if I came off sharp. --Tyson2k 06:11, 8 January 2006 (UTC)
alberta and provincial templates
I removed the template based on it's reformatting, which I see you have reverted. The template is just too big as is (compare with quebec, which aditionnaly follows the semi-convention for country footers of listing only subdivisions). I see that other similar provincial templates have been created, but I think all of these should be build so as to be a bit smaller and closer to those of American states in structure (and actually, I strongly believe that all those american state templates would gain from streamlining). My simplification of the template was probably too harsh, I admit, but I still think it would gain from some reduction and that all the provincial templates should be harmonized. What do you say if we continue this discussion at WP:CWNB? Circeus 00:00, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Banff Map
Ummm... dare I ask why you made it pink? --Tyson2k 04:33, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- I've noticed that a number of the small maps of Alberta (in print) are a shade of pink. If it were Sask., it would naturally be green. Alberta has used a light blue, but that might give the impression of water. Would you like to see a different color? If so, what color would be best? White seemed so sterile and was particularly difficult to spot the red dot of the town. You will probably observe that a number of other towns also have a "pink" map. Cadillac 05:02, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- I have no problem with pink actually. Sometimes they use a light shade of yellow... not specifically for Alberta, but because it's a neutral colour that's not white. I was just curious. Should the same treatment be made to the other location maps for cities and towns in the province? --Tyson2k 05:56, 31 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I think so. Some of the European countries color their maps. In fact, that's where I got the idea to do likewise. I have changed a bunch of maps already and plan to put maps on all the Alberta towns & villages.Cadillac 13:32, 31 January 2006 (UTC)

Wikimedia Canada
Hi there! I'd like to invite you to explore Wikimedia Canada, and create a list of people interested in forming a local chapter for our nation. A local chapter will help promote and improve the organization, within our great nation. We'd also like to encourage everyone to suggest projects for our national chapter to participate in. Hope to see you there!--DarkEvil 17:11, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
Images missing source info
The maps you have just uploaded to wikipedia have been marked as missing source and license information. If this is not rectified in 7 days they will be deleted. If they are based on an existing GFDL image the image and its author should be explicitly stated in the description and should be tagged GFDL. If you have any questions, let me know. --Martyman-(talk) 02:16, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Which map in particular was the basis for your new maps? --Martyman-(talk) 02:25, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- That is a bit worrying. Is there any proof the original Canadian government image was under a free license? --Martyman-(talk) 02:56, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- I understand your map contributions are meant in good faith. I think it might be problem that the original that was created by User:Earl Andrew may not actually be in the public domain as he has claimed in the image description. Colouring in a few areas does not constitute a new work and it would still be copyrighted to the candadian government. I will contact the usr to request clarrification.
- Assuming that it is in the public domain then your image descriptions should read something like:
Map of Alberta, Canada highlighting the location of Elnora. Image created by User:Cadillac derived from :Image:Censusdivisions.PNG. GFDL-self
- The choice of copyright to release it under is up to you, the GFDL being to most common. --Martyman-(talk) 03:25, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
OK, I am happy from my discussion with User:Earl Andrew that their aren't any copyright problems. So you would be fine to go through and tag them all in a fasion similar to teh example above. If it clearly states that you made it what it is of what it is based on and what license it is under then it is great. It should also explicitly have a copyright template eg GFDL-self. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help. --Martyman-(talk) 08:30, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- I just wanted to drop by and say thankyou for updating the copyright on your maps. --Martyman-(talk) 22:27, 21 February 2006 (UTC)

Image Tagging for Image:Burdett,_Alberta_Location.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Burdett,_Alberta_Location.png. The image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to indicate why we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use GFDL to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies under Wikipedia's fair use guidelines, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you want the image to be deleted, tag it as db-unksource.
If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.

Alberta highways
Well, I didn't copy them! I looked at my Alberta atlas and copied out all the highways that I saw. --curling rock Earl Andrew - talk 14:13, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Re:Map consistency
Two reasons why I started over with a new template. One is the suspicion of copyvio. The map at an angle seems to be an edit of this map linked from Statistics Canada. Here are the copyright conditions.
Second: The map at an angle has that angle because of the projection used to display all of Canada, including the northern territories. It's kind of strange to have latitude displayed in an oblique fashion, the standard is normally north up.
Take the yellow straith map as a proposal, I could replace the images if you think the white one are more appropriate. Let me know of your decision. Cheers Qyd 17:39, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
PS: I've uploaded the maps on commons rather than in the en wiki, so they can be used in other language wikis as well. Here's another proposal for base map: commons:Image:Census_divisions_AB.png.Qyd
- Personally, I prefer the old map. And if you change one, you should change them all. I think both the old and the new are pretty ugly. Someone should try to create nicer and higher resolution versions. --Arch26 02:31, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- I will work on them. --Arch26 03:05, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- Look at the new version I put on the division 6 page. This is the kind of thing I am thinking about. The angle does not have to stay. If you don't approve, then just revert my edit and we can discuss. --Arch26 09:10, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- How would this work: commons:Image:Census divisions AB.png (north up, slanted, color scheme proposed by Arch26 (consistent with other world maps,by the way)? Qyd 16:22, 8 March 2006 (UTC). PS: I reiterate my request to upload maps/images on wikimedia commons, especially public domain ones. If you would agree on that, we could also move this disscussion there commons:Category:Locator_maps_of_cities_in_Alberta Qyd 17:30, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
- I am presently working on a high resolution composite derived directly from the vector source. It should look much cleaner. --Arch26 03:03, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

Lat/long Coordinates
I'd like to know what really is the fastesr way to determine the coordinates of a particularpoint on the planet, which I've noticed you doing, especially on highway pages (ie: Alberta provincial highway 43 - nice work adding the table template and coordinates)? I know I haven't actually been a user of Wikipedia for very long, but it'd be great if I know how to determine lat/long coordinates quickly enough without having to resort to trial and error! Image copyright problem with Image:Ardrossan, Alberta Location.png
Thanks for uploading Image:Ardrossan, Alberta Location.png. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: TemplateName
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Sue Anne 04:43, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Honda C 70 to Honda 70
Thank you very much for your interest, I think its fair that we rename Honda C70 to Honda 70 because even though the motorcycle first introduced was called and advertised as "Honda 70" it was actually Honda C 70 E (May be as you stated coz of the shape difference from the US market this bike was called only “Honda 70”), in 1984 when they further upgraded this model, they advertised and released it as “Honda CD 70”. I also have old collection of posters from 1970’s for this bike but I am not sure if I can scan and upload the pics from there, maybe you can help me in the matter? You might also like to have a look at other articles I have done thank you cheers! (Matchless)
Map of Comox
Hi, thanks for the info about Comox. If you click on the map, the small rectangle is indeed in the right place. However, is there a way to make that map consistent with the maps for most of the other communities on Vancouver Island (and probably elsewhere)? For example Courtenay or Cumberland? That seems to be a more useful format. Thanks again for the help. Hoolme April 28, 2006
Canadian Town Template
I noticed you just added a template to Lytton, British Columbia. I've been using the template for B.C. cities and towns. Do you know if one more appropriate than the other, or does it not really matter at this point? — Usgnus 02:59, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree that a single flexible nationwide template would make sense. I don't remember how I started using the BC template, but I had to modify it extensively to make it work with Vancouver. Let me know if I can help. — Usgnus 03:19, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
"only" must be placed in front of the expression it modifies
Who says? I'm not going to edit it back, but I think you'll find your change was unnecessary. "Can only occur" gets 1,360,000 Google hits, "can occur only" gets 47,800. It can even follow the expression it modifies, with "can * once only" getting 67,500 hits. --Ptcamn 08:56, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- Woah. I made that comment after only having seen one page. --Ptcamn 09:47, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- I want to thank you for your comments about my edit regarding the word, "only." While it is true that in conversation we do not insert "only" in front of the expression it modifies, in technical writing such as an encyclopedia, it is important to be as grammatically accurate as possible. According to the rules of English grammar, the placement of the word "only" should go in front of the expression it modifies because it adds clarity. Note the difference: "You can only buy four apples" and "You can buy only four apples." In the first sentence, "only" modifies the action of buying. Thus it excludes other actions such as selling or eating, etc. The meaning is equivalent to "The only thing you can do is buy the apples." In the second sentence "only" modifies the number of apples that can be purchased. I have been a college professor for 15 years and thus I made the edit to conform with the high standard expected in this encyclopedia. It is interesting that your Google search uncovered the many uses of "only occur." In some instances, "only occur" is correct if the intent is to modify "occur." The reason why colloquial English allows a misplacement of "only" is due to the advantage of tonal inflection, "I only want TEN flowers in the vase." Since such emphasis is missing in print, I think it is important to be as clear as possible. Thanks again for your comments. Cheers, Cadillac 23:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
