Tsugumi Ohba
Tsugumi Ohba (大場つぐみ Ōba Tsugumi) is a manga writer. It is suspected that "Tsugumi Ohba" is only a pen-name for a more famous author. Such works under this name include Death Note.
It is strongly agreed upon that Tsugumi Ohba is actually Hiroshi Gamou who is well known for his comic series Totemo Luckyman which also became an animated series in Japan in the 90's.
Other rumors within the Japanese manga community say that "Tsugumi Ooba" is the penname of Yuuko Asami, a Shounen Jump artist responsible for such titles like "Wild Half", "Romancers" and "Jump Run." "Death Note" is supposed to be her first written work, which was why she changed her name to be credited as an author.
It is also strongly speculated that the charachter "L" in Death Note is based on Ohba him/herself, espescially by using an alias (as Ohba is suspected of doing), not being seen by the public eye, munching snack food, thinking day and night about things, and setting in a strange manner in chairs (setting on chair holding knees)
The Viz English graphic novels profiles Tsugumi Ohba as:
- Tsugumi Ohba.
- Born in Tokyo.
- Hobby: Collecting teacups.
- Day and night, develops manga plots while holding knees on a chair.
