Career

Samarin is coached by Inna Goncharenko since his childhood. He trains at CSKA Moscow with his teammates including Elena Radionova.

In the 2009–2010 season, Samarin won gold in the novice event at the 2010 NRW Trophy in Dortmund, Germany, and also took silver at the International Crystal Skate 2010 in Odintsovo, Russia.

In 2011–2012, Samarin did not appear internationally and withdrew from the 2012 Russian Junior Championships due to illness.[citation needed]

In 2012–2013, Samarin had surgery on his appendix.[citation needed] He debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series, winning a pair of bronze medals at JGP events in Slovenia and Germany. He was the first alternate for the 2012 JGP Final. In December, Samarin appeared at his first senior Russian Championships and finished 8th ahead of Artur Dmitriev Jr.
