David Dileo (aka Boosta) is a musician, DJ, composer, writer, editor, producer and private pilot born in Turin on 27th of September 1974. After studying piano at the conservatory, he began his experience on stage at the age of fourteen. In 1996 he co-founded Subsonica, the most popular Italian alternative rock band, who now have six studio albums (triple platinum, almost 500,000 copies sold) and three live cd’s of which one double, as well as a long list of awards (Amnesty Italy Award, MTV Europe Music Award, Italian Music Awards, Grinzane Cavour Prize and countless others). Since the foundation of the band their live performances continued almost without interruption.

Biography

Musician

Boosta engages in many different musical projects: from the older Iconoclash (Sony) in 2004 and Caesar Palace (Universal),to a rock album of the trio together with two components of Linea77. It is also worth mentioning the participation in a volume of Paris Dernière. This volume is a famous selection with a "French touch" of the coolest covers in the world (Boosta participates with his rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon" by Frank Sinatra).

Remixer

As a remixer he has mixed songs by Italian artists (Vasco Rossi, Morgan, Cristina Dona ...) and international artists (Placebo, Beastie Boys, Client, Depeche Mode, Skin, Jackson's Five ...). In 2011, at the request of Caterina Caselli’s SUGAR, he enrolls in the project DISCOverITALY, remixing in a disco style the biggest pop hits of Italian music of the 70s and 80s. His DJ career takes him in the best clubs every weekend of the year: from Ibiza to Zurich through the most important locations in Italy. He has published 12" for Ultra Records, Mantra Vibes, Ocean Dark, Toast Hawaii, Mute,..

Composer

As a writer and composer, he has written for: Mina (two songs: "Non ti voglio piu’” included on the album "Easy" in 2009 and "Hourglass" for the album "Candy" in 2010), Malika Ayane (the song " Shine "on the album" Ricreazione "of 2012, in which Boost also cooperates for the arrangement of" Guess What?? "). He has made a cover of Enrico Ruggeri’s cult song "Il Mare D'Inverno", added to the tribute cd for Milanese singer-songwriters called "Le Canzoni ai Testimoni" (2011). Together with Skin from Skunk Anansie he wrote the song "The Last 1con" which was spreaded on the web. The commitment as an artistic producer evolves in a natural way: EMI, Subsonica’s record label, ask in 2012 to think of a song for Jessica Brando (a young performer also from the label EMI looking for a more mature artistic definition): the song "Sei", with music, arrangements and artistic production of David Dileo (and lyrics from Brando), is released on iTunes under the alias "b + B" and gets a good response from the public and critics.

Producer

In 2012 he also started working on an artistic production with Erica Mou, a young artist from the label SUGAR. He wrote two songs for her and takes care of the sound of the album, which will be released in 2013.

Writer

He makes his literary debut with a collection of short stories "Dianablu" in 2003, followed by the novel "An hour and a half" (two editions, which will be made into a film). Since November 2007 he collaborates with the music magazine XL/Repubblica by writing a monthly collum called "Piombo.” In the fall of 2008 he also begins a collaboration with the newspaper "La Stampa". His activity as a writer leads him to writing screenplays and directing a documentary, "Surfin 'Torino', in collaboration with director Chiara Pacilli, produced by Rai Cinema. This success with Chiara Pacilli continues onto 2011, with the release of "Ho Visto Cose", a new documentary about the magical Turin in which Boost takes care of all the original music.

Director

In 2010 he becomes the artistic director of "Bookstock", an International Book Fair in Turin dedicated to children. In 2011(Einaudi - Freestyle) "Un Buon Posto Per Morire" is published, co-written with Tullio Avoledo, and defined by Boosta as “a historical novel about the end of the world”. The book received the Salgari award for best adventure novel in 2012. In the same year "Toc Toc – Storie di bambini, magie e capricci" is published, his first book for children, which immediately received a warm welcome.

Radio/Tv host

In 2009/2010 he also starts airing shows on the radio. On television, in February 2009, Boosta begins to conduct a new season of "The 25a Ora Il Cinema Espanso", a cult program for cinema lovers. In 2012 he was chosen as the new face of the cultural channel of Sky, Sky HD ART. He will be hosting a daily program called "Boo(k) sta: Libri che suonano", airing in January 2013.

Editor

In the years following 2010 David Dileo is also an editor: together with Michele Dalai and Andrea Agnelli they create ADD, a publishing house devoted to the publication of contemporary essays written by high-profile names. For the launch of ADD they chose to publish the book “Di sana e robusta Costituzione”, a two-part debate between the chief prosecutor of the Republic, Giancarlo Caselli, and the former head of state Oscar, Luigi Scalfaro, followed by the Italian edition of the bestseller French "Indignatevi" and numerous other publishing events.

Personal
