Fair use rationale for Image:Jt cry me a river.jpg
Image:Jt cry me a river.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. - ...in the United States on November 24, 2002, as second single from the album. → Put "the" between "as" and "second"

- Lyrically, the single is about a brokenhearted man who refuses to look back. → Specify what he refuses to look back at

- Justified and Lovin' It Live is one tour. — Tomica (talk) 23:17, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
Writing, release and response

- ...which was released in November 2002. → Specify exact date of release; Replace "in" with "on"

- ...while explaining the recording of "Cry Me a River" → Add a comma at the end of that phrase
- ...with Timberlake in the studio because there "was a meaning behind it [the song]" → Remove "it" if you are using brackets to say "the song"
- "Cry Me a River" was released as second single from Justified, only after Timberlake's debut single "Like I Love You" (2002). → Add "the" between "as" and "second"
- On December 23, 2002, three remixes of the song were released on 12-inch single in Canada and France. → Add "a" between "on" and "12-inch single"
- On January 5, 2003, it was also released to urban contemporary radio stations in the United States.[10] → Reference 10 does not show that it was released to "urban contemporary radio stations"
- Addded it. — Tomica (talk) 23:18, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
- ...containing the album version of the song and the remixes previously included on the 12-inch.[13] → Add "single" to the end of the sentence to clarify statement

- "Cry Me a River" was released on a CD single in the United States on February 18, 2003. → Replace the first "on" with "as"
- It featured the album version of the song, its instrumental and four remixes.[16] → Wiki-link "instrumental" to make it more clear to all readers
Composition
- According to WP:SAMPLE, the song sample must be less than 10% of the song (28.8 seconds), and it is currently 30 seconds

- Its composition consists of clavinet, beatobox, guitars, synthesizers, Arabian inspired riffs and "Gregorian chants".[1][3][21][22] → References 1, 21, and 23 do not mention anything about its composition of instruments
- Yeah there is. Changed to real source now. — Tomica (talk) 23:54, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- According to Alex Needham of NME, Timberlake manages to mix the instrumentation "into something infinitely graceful and mysterious".[1] → None of this information is found in the listed source
- Right source now. — Tomica (talk) 23:54, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- Single's chorus contains the lines: "Told me you loved me... → Adjust the beginning of the sentence to make it flow better
- In several places you are saying "to flow" better, but you are not giving me any clue how to do that. I want some feedback. — Tomica (talk) 23:54, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
- ...2007 single "What Goes Around... Comes Around" (FutureSex/LoveSounds, 2006) → Album of this single is not necessary in this instance

After thoroughly reviewing this article, I have decided to put the article on hold. There are numerous prose issues and citation issues (among other things) that are keeping this article from reaching good article status. I will give you the general seven days to fix these issues and/or discuss any items that you do not agree with or that you think could have an alternative solution. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Rp0211 (talk2me) 22:34, 18 June 2012 (UTC)
- It seems that all of the issues have been addressed, so I feel comfortable passing this article. Congratulations and keep up the good work! Rp0211 (talk2me) 02:44, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
Comments
Ok, I just finished my copyedit of the article. It looks like it's in pretty good shape. A few thoughts occurred to me while I was editing it that I would probably bring up in a review. So I figured I'd post them here:
- You should double check for consistency with the serial comma.
- Does this mean I should apply the comma everywhere? Because tbh, I am not much familiar with the serial comma. — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:24, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- "such as Timberlake's portrayal of a voyeur and the tone of some scenes he was portraying with a girl." Is there a good way around the "portrayal ... portraying" repetition here?
- Maybe (although I am not sure) ... "such as Timberlake's representation of a voyeur and the tone of some scenes he was portraying with a girl." ? — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- That sounds good. Mark Arsten (talk) 16:17, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- Make sure you have inline citations after every sentence with a direct quotation in it.
- Check once, will check twice too. — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- "Lyrically, the song is a "haunting tale of a man whose heart has been broken but he refuses to look back."[26]" I'd mention in-text who said this.
- "Spears recorded an answer song titled "Everytime" for her 2003 studio album In the Zone." I'd suggest moving this to later in the lead.
- Which paragraph, second or third? — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- Probably the third. Mark Arsten (talk) 16:17, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure rock music needs to be wikilinked at all, certainly not twice.
- "the formation of the Timberlake-Timbaland team" I'm not sure if this should be a hyphen or an endash.
- Me neither tbh. — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- I think we use endashes in place of "to" and "and", so yes, endash. —WP:PENGUIN · [ TALK ] 19:10, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thank You Penguin ;) ! — Tomíca(T2ME) 21:05, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- Me neither tbh. — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- "Justin Bieber recorded a cover of the song together with Kanye West's 2007 single "Stronger"" I'm not sure what you mean by "together with" here?
- He recorded covers for the both songs. :) — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, so you might be able to remove the stuff about the Kanye song then? Mark Arsten (talk) 16:17, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if Silveira's explanation merits inclusion in the article.
- Removed. — Tomíca(T2ME) 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- "Timberlake performed "Cry Me a River" as the opening song in a promotional concert held at House of Blues in West Hollywood, California on June 17, 2003." This feels a bit trivial to me.
- I c/e it. 17:51, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- "... being a peeping Tom, getting revenge and doing stuff that's not really what a nice guy does."" This illustrates nicely why you shouldn't link within quotations -- the film is totally unrelated to what he's saying in the quote. Mark Arsten (talk) 17:16, 4 February 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, fixes and explanations look good to me. Mark Arsten (talk) 16:17, 9 February 2013 (UTC)
