Power Rangers Megaforce is the current twentieth season of the American children's television series Power Rangers. The show is produced by SCG Power Rangers and began airing on Nickelodeon on February 2, 2013.[3] The show will be part of the Power Rangers 20th anniversary.[1][2][4][5][6][7][8][9] Kidscreen reported that Megaforce will feature "the return of many historic Rangers."[10] Megaforce uses footage, costumes, and props from the Japanese Super Sentai Series Tensou Sentai Goseiger.

Plot

When the evil Warstar aliens attack Earth, the supernatural guardian Gosei and his faithful robot assistant Tensou recruit five teenagers with attitude to combat the invading forces. Equipped with powers that grant them mastery over martial arts and other forms of combat, the teenagers transform into the latest champions of good: The Power Rangers Megaforce.[11]

Promotion

The Megaforce Power Rangers appeared at the 2012 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with the past Red Rangers from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers through Power Rangers Super Samurai.

Characters

Rangers

The five main characters transform into the Megaforce Rangers using the Gosei Morphers. They wield the Power Cards in battle, which they use to perform certain attacks and to summon their personal weapons, which merge to form the Megaforce Blaster. Each ranger carries a Mega Blaster as a side arm that they use for special attacks.

Troy Burrows/Red Megaforce Ranger
Portrayed by Andrew Gray, is new in town and a loner to start with, but he is fast at making friends when he joins the Megaforce. He had a tough upbringing that made him responsible and focused, making Troy leader material, which is combined with his compassion, loyalty, and support of the underdog. Troy also has dreams involving his team's predecessors fighting an unknown evil. He wields the Dragon Sword in battle and pilots the Dragon Zord.[3][12][13]
Noah Carver/Blue Megaforce Ranger
Portrayed by John Mark Loudermilk, is a tech geek and uses his intelligence rather than brute strength in battle. He is best friends with Jake and they are a perfect team together. Noah is also interested in the supernatural. He wields the Shark Bowgun in battle and pilots the Shark Zord.[14][15][3][16]
Emma Goodall/Pink Megaforce Ranger
Portrayed by Christina Masterson, is a BMX biker who loves nature and wants to protect the environment, taking the alien attack on Earth very personally. She wields the Phoenix Shot in battle and pilots the Phoenix Zord.[3][12][17]
Gia Moran/Yellow Megaforce Ranger
Portrayed by Ciara Hanna, she is labeled as "Miss Perfect". Gia is pretty, personable, skilled in martial arts, and as intelligent as she is confident. She and Emma have been best friends since they were very young, and this has not stopped despite now being in different social circles. Gia wields the Tiger Claw in battle and pilots the Tiger Zord.[3][12][18]
Jake Holling/Black Megaforce Ranger
Portrayed by Azim Rizk, is out-going, optimistic, fun-loving, and fearless, whether on the battlefield or in social situations. He wants very much to make his identity as the Black Megaforce Ranger public, but like the others is sworn to secrecy. His only weakness is his crush on Gia. Jake wields the Snake Axe in battle and pilots the Snake Zord.[3][12][19]
Robo Knight
A character who appeared in Troy's dream involving the previous Power Ranger teams fighting an unknown evil. TV Guide published that it will be revealed later in the Megaforce season.[3]
