From June 2011 to November 2012, she portrayed the role of Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada in STAR Plus's TV soap opera Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?.[6][7] and she also appeared on multiple Reality Shows in India
Personal life
Sanaya Irani was born and brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra, and received her schooling in Ooty.[8] Following this, she graduated from Sydenham College.[9] She is also a Zoroastrian.[10] Since 2009, she has been dating her former co-star Mohit Sehgal from Miley Jab Hum Tum. Sanaya Irani said in an interview that she loves Mohit a lot, and certain publications confirm both are in a committed relationship despite rumors arising elsewhere.[11][12]
Career
Early Career and Debut
Her first portfolio was taken by photographer, now actor Boman Irani,[13] with which she began her modelling career. She appeared in various advertisements for companies such as Airtel, Reliance, and Pepsi in her early career, working with Shahrukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Priyanka Chopra in some instances.[1] She made her performing debut with Jagjit Singh's song "Tumko Dekha To Yeh" before appearing in other music videos.[citation needed] Sanaya began her acting career in 2006 as Bobo, the friend of the lead, Zooni (Kajol) in the Yash Raj movie Fanaa.[9] Sanaya then made her television debut in the SAB TV drama Left Right Left as Sameera, a new joining cadet.[14] This was followed by a negative role in [[Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi]] on Imagine TV.[citation needed]
Breakthrough
Her first role as a protagonist came in STAR One's Miley Jab Hum Tum,[15] as the simple, studious and reclusive Gunjan, the younger sister of Nupur (Rati Pandey).[16] She also briefly hosted the second season of Zara Nachke Dikha on STAR Plus with Mohit Sehgal.[17]
After the end of Miley Jab Hum Tum, Sanaya's next major television role was as Khushi Kumari Gupta Singh Raizada, the female protagonist of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?, which is Star Plus's most famous show of all time.[18] Sanaya has gained popularity in many different countries for her portrayal of Khushi and her on-screen chemistry opposite male lead Barun Sobti.[19] The show, which aired its final episode on November 30, 2012, had also consistently maintained its position as one of the top ten daily dramas on Indian general entertainment channels and has a tremendous fan following.[20] She also performed in the Star Parivaar Live Event 2012 in Birmingham, UK.
