Puliangudi is a municipality in Tirunelveli district of the Indian State Tamil Nadu. It is located in the foothills of the Western Ghats. 45 km south from Rajapalyam and 30 km north of Coutrallam on NH 208 from Madurai to Kollam. Nearby towns include Sankarankovil (16 km), Kovilpatti (45 km), Tenkasi (30 km), Kadayanallur (12 km)

Puliangudi is located on the Tenkasi–Thirumangalam National Highway. It has a gentle slope from west to east. It covers an area of 55.166 square kilometres (21.300 sq mi), and the 2001 population was 60,142. The Puliangudi municipal area includes three areas: Puliangudi, Chinthamani and Thirumalai Naicken Pudukudi. It has a dry climate, except during the monsoons. Puliangudi is known as the "Lemon City" because of the variety of lemons (the main agricultural product) cultivated in the area.

In Puliyangudi, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Economic Base

The economy of the town is concentrated around the lemon trade and the hosiery products market.The town in located on the Kollam – Thirumangalam National Highways.

Road (N.H.208) in Tirunelveli District. It is mainly an agricultural based Town and weaving is the open industry of the Town. Puliangudi is Popularly known for its lemon market and other wise it is called as leman city in this area.
