The Ark
In the I Love Bees storyline, the Ark plays a large role. It is definately on Earth. --OGoncho 07:11, 22 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- well it appears your correct, as seen in the trailer. Vulcanstar6 02:18, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
- Is it me, or does the (probably) Ark look alot like the forerunner ships docking point in high charity? Doug1984
- Despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary, I do not think that the Ark-like object really is the Ark. From the Announcement FAQ, Bungie has this to say about the object: "...Halo fans may recognize something about its design." Although it would make perfect sense to have the object be the Ark, it would be too straightforward for Bungie. There has got to be a twist somewhere; it's how Bungie works.Ourai 00:54, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. It would be way too obvious for Bungie to put "The Ark" in first media we have seen for Halo 3. It may have something to do with the Ark, however. Hieros 13:12, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Wikipedia:Oh, no! More bad jokes and other deleted nonsense#From_Halo_3

Halo 3
As far as I know, Bungie has said nothing regarding a Halo 3. Although Halo 2 ends in a cliffhanger, I have seen nothing to suggest that they will be making a Halo 3 soon or at all. Perhaps this page should be deleted until we hear something from Bungie? --OGoncho 23:37, 29 Nov 2004 (UTC)
No i perhaps not, this page shouldn't be delted
- That dude that keeps posting the plot is starting to get on my nerves. But you bring up a good point: maybe it's not a great idea to have an entire article devoted to a rumor... I vaguely remember hearing that it was, actually, in development stages, but that Bungie said it's "not their biggest priority" or something - implying that they acknowledge its existence. The burden of proof lies on me, though, and I should look into that. LockeShocke 00:55, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)
- Bungie has mentioned their position on Halo 3 multiple times, and no matter how unpopular it is, it still stands. They intended to make a finished game, screwed up on time management, and they're sorry they had to cut things down but they made the best game they could and they stand by the results (Limited Edition DVD). No one at Bungie is in a hurry to do Halo 3 (Joe Staten mentioned not seeing his wife/kid for several weeks at once point trying to finish the game) and Bungie has a lot of other projects to attend to (Phoenix and Myth at the top of the list). Could Halo3 be made SOMEDAY? Maybe. Is it magically already done and Bungie is just hiding that? Heck no! Random note: If you've seen the "February 9th" rumors out there- the date and the information are absolute falsehood. Don't believe that either.
This plot garbage, still
I'd like to just erase it, but John-1107 would just put it right back here. It's starting to bug me because it's pure speculation - or he's just typing his own storyline for some reason - and it's not true! It's completely made up! Can't we do anything about this? LockeShocke 19:47, Feb 14, 2005 (UTC)
- I was afraid of this. I'm of the growing opinion that John-1107 is User:206.255.28.121, who has had a history of adding nonsense to these articles. -- Cyrius|✎ 22:29, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
John-1107's response: Wikipedia wars
Re: Would everyone please SHUT UP and BE QUIET, now i am ANGRY, this page shouldn't be deleted since it was there before i edited, all rumored information are now unconfirmed and should be revised when we hear something about Halo 3 from Bungie, the Halo series shouldn't end in a cliffhanger so people should know what will happen in the Halo storyline, i am once the user who posted new information of what y'all wrongly called "nonsense" and y'all should leave me alone and stop interfering = y'all don't have power over me; gosh dang and darn, h... (K...) y'all in data blood to Underworld H... for being my enemies, y'all wage war against me by blocking me once and constantly destroying my revisions, y'all will never see me in person, long after this, and i swear to G.. i will take this fight to y'all's doorsteps (Wikipedia user pages) (a reference from The Bourne Supremacy) because y'all want me dead! - John-1107 5:01 P.M. - February 15, 2005 (UTC)

That is not a personal attack, this is my threat for an encyclopedia "computer to computer" civil war against any user that would try to block me and destroy me revisions, so please (ultimatum (quietly) for the last time) stop interfering and leave me alone and these statements don't justify blocking. I am not a vandal and these sentences of what y'all called "nonsense" will be true or otherwise, predict the future, these are also conclusions i draw from various sources (including details) and i'm trying to win favor of Wikipedia, y'all do believe me? Can we just be friends or enemies? -John-1107
Please don't delete our comments, either. I see the text below was missing in the most recent revision. LockeShocke 20:57, Feb 16, 2005 (UTC)
- Such statements are in and of themselves justification for blocking. Tread lightly. -- Cyrius|✎ 02:43, 16 Feb 2005 (UTC)
- If it's not true to the best of your knowledge, it shouldn't be on the page. You just made that whole plot up and put it on there. Why? Someone's going to come along and think it's official. Why can't you just say "there will probably be a Halo 3, but, since its existence is entirely a rumor, no one knows anything about its plot right now"? Don't make stuff up. LockeShocke 20:32, Feb 16, 2005 (UTC)
Is Halo 3's setting on earth?
Long time I have played Halo 2, but the battle was based in the Earth! In the end of Halo 2, serveral ships and things were in space. Master Cheif was heading to the control center of the Halo, the mainframe.
So..if Halo 3 doesn't take place on earth, what is this doing there?: the trailer shows a desolate and dry desert area, possibly ravaged by the Covenant fleet, or quite possibly whatever is left of New Mombasa, which was destroyed in Halo 2. . The New Mombasa is in Earth, so how can it be in the halo control system mainframe?
Can someone correct me! Even the Aribiter and Heretic storyline is pretty confusing:/
- Spoilers, but the Ark is located where the real-life Ark is located; in east Africa. The Forerunners were human, built the Halos to study the Flood (with the Ark control centre being on Earth), but had to fire off the main weapon as they got out of control. Life redeveloped, in the form of the humans of today, however.
None of that is really stated/confirmed by Bungie, except for the part where they fire off Halo, and kill themselves.
If anyone here accully plays speak up now! Did anyone ealse catch the *hint* on the Delta Halo's movie? THERE WAS AFRICA IN THE BACKGROUND!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THE COVENANT LANDED IN AFRICA!!!!!! THERE WAS A HOLY TEMPLE ON THE AREA ON DELTA HALO THAT LOOKED LIKE AFRICA!!!!!!! HONESTLLY AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO REALIZES THIS???????? ULTRA ELITES RULE!!!!!!!!!!!{USER SYTHE DANTE}
This all sounds logical to me, especially after looking at the above article on the Ark. We can only wait and see. Death Dark
Um does no one remember the f@%$ing storyline from Halo 2?!?!? When you kill Tartarus, the brutes leader, the oracle tells you to find the Ark if you want to deactivate the other Halos. So in the final scene it shows Master Chief in the covenant ship flying past EARTH'S SPACE STATION DEFENSES. When the general says "Master Chief what the hell are you doing?!?!" he says "FINISHING THIS FIGHT". Also I believe you have freakin alzheimers because there were only 3 LEVELS that were set on Earth (including the first one which was just in space but near earth). Be sure to replay the second level in Halo 2 also, because Cortanna mentions "Why would the covenant come here? This place is deserted." The place just happend to be MOMBASSA, WHICH JUST HAPPENS TO BE IN AFRICA, AND AFRICA JUST HAPPENS TO BE ON EARTH! Its obvious from that statement she made that the covenant went to Mombassa to find the Ark. Besides where the hell did you get the idea Halo 3 wasn't based on Earth? Cheesor
Transcript OK?
I went to the trouble of typing up a complete description of the trailer; it's several paragraphs long. Would that be appropriate for this article? I figured it would function in the same way as an episode summary for a TV show or something similar. It would be very useful for those who have not or cannot see the trailer.
Here is the summary:
A sharp piano note sounds.
There is light. Bright, white. Fade-in to a dusty African plain dotted with acacias. There is ghostly, mournful music, surreal, forlorn. As the background fades into view, we see several shattered arches draped with cables stand against a cloudy blue sky -- the remnants of the New Mombasa suspension bridge. The ground is battered and bare, with a few scrubby plants. A fallen metal sign bearing the image of a Grunt shudders in the breeze. In the distance, a shadowy figure walks toward us down the cracked roadway. All the while the camera pans slowly backward.
Another forceful piano note. The view is momentarily obscured with blue static. A hazy blue figure fades in and out. A multilayered voice speaks echoing words, guttural and chilling: "I have defied gods and demons." The flickering vision fades.
Continue pan, backing through the ruins of a bunker, half-broken, choked with smoke. The oncoming figure is seen dimly through the fumes. The haunting music continues, now with the soft sound of violins.
Again, a piano note. The vision returns. The long-haired blue figure appears, saying darkly, "I am your shield. I am your sword." The indistinct images fade once more.
The music resumes. The camera backs upward and out. The violins swell hopefully as the dark figure emerges from the smoke: the Master Chief, Assault Rifle slung over his shoulder. His armor is battered and worn. It is also subtly different: his guantlets are altered, and the armor plating distinctly greyer. He stands alert for a moment.
Another piano note, softer. More static, with wavering images: an eye, a face. The voice, more feminine, earnest. "I know you. Your past. Your future." The face holds onscreen momentarily -- it is Cortana. Her face dissipates into blue sparks.
Close in on the Master Chief. A simple theme plays out in piano. Then, fast-moving shapes appear in the background -- Banshees. They swoop past, and the Chief watches. The view abruptly shifts, showing what he sees: an enormous Covenant cruiser hanging in the air above him, moving away. The theme plays again, but stronger, with the dramatic flair of trumpets.
The camera pans right. The ground drops off, and we see an immense crater in the earth, miles wide. The edges are patrolled by countless Covenant ships. More Banshees swoop in overhead, engines roaring, then a Phantom. The familiar Halo theme music kicks in, backed by the power of a full orchestra. Our view expands: black clouds swirl over the center of the crater, lightning strikes.
Then, plumes of smoke puff up in radial lines from the center of the depression. It is apparent that some huge mechanism at the crater's center is opening up. The smoke travels out in a shockwave, slamming into the Master Chief's ledge. The camera view shifts down into the crater, looking up at the Chief as large slabs of the ledge's edge fall away into the abyss. The Halo theme continues to swell.
The camera shifts, moving up and panning right. The sun shines brilliantly beneath the edge of the Covenant cruiser. The view rises and swings round, showing the huge doors of the distant mechanism rising open. Trumpets accentuate the dramatic music. A circular platform at the center slowly lowers, allowing a brilliant blue-white light to spill upward from an underground chamber.
Tight lock on the Chief's helmet, the awesome sight shimmering in his visor. The music swells to a crescendo. The view shifts back to take in the flowering structure. There is silence, then the roar of vast engines. The light builds to a blinding climax, then pulses outward. The screen fills with white light. Cut to black.
Another piano note. Cortana's voice, low, ominous: "This is the way the world ends."
A triumphant trumpet blast repeats the earlier piano theme. Blue static flickers, then resolves itself into an angular "3" enclosed by a silver crescent. It fades, then the Bungie logo appears in its place. The trumpet theme repeats. The logo fades. More static. Then, words: FINISH THE FIGHT. Shortly thereafter, below it: 2007. The image flickers out, and the music's climax dissolves into a faintly echoing laugh.
-Does Cortona say "I am your shield and your sword," or "I am your shield and your SOURCE?"
- She says "I am your shield and your sword." If you listen carefully through the static, you'll hear the 's' sound and the 'd' sound of the word.--LifeStar 20:03, 10 May 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm, can you confirm that Gravemind is also speaking with Cortana? You can especially hear the emphasis when she says "demons."
It's very possible. It's a plot point Bungie is unwilling to discuss -- also, Bungie is unwilling to discuss the Elites -- they may have become allies with the Humans.
Now that I listen to it again, I'm not too sure it's Gravemind. The voices are a bit different. Either way, something is talking with her. Or there's just distortion/she's using recording clips. Speculation is fun.
- I'm not sure if it's Gravemind who's speaking alongside/through Cortana. It is noticeable that at the beginning of her transmission, the audio is very distorted. The low rumble that people have taken to be the Gravemind could just be an audio artifact from her transmission. It would be understandable that if she's attemping to make contact with the MC, then the initial beginning of the transmission will be heavily corrupted and distorted.
- Another thing that I'm not sure is if we should assume that the artifact is indeed the Ark. That device might not be the Ark itself, but the antenna or tranmitter for the Ark, but the Ark itself is buried deeper underground. We also shouldn't assume that just because the Banshees didn't attack MC that they're allied now. The Banshees and other ships might not have noticed him until they passed by, but they're a little more pre-occupied by the structure rising out of the ground. --LifeStar 14:07, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
Trailer Egg?
I heard there was an egg in the Trailer, can anyone clarify on what it is?
I added it and the image to the article. - Jonah
- If you haven't already discovered, it's the sign in the foreground that is rattling, it's a "Grunt Crossing" sign. Knowing Bungie I'm sure there are more. Hieros 13:03, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
E3 Trailer
Should this section be called the E3 2006 Trailer? Halo 2 had two E3 presentations, '03 and '04. Likewise, we can't assume Halo 3 won't have two. I might be thinking too far ahead, what do you think? Tom Stringham 04:02, 11 May 2006 (UTC)
- As far as Wikipedia is concerned, this is the page for Halo 3 (do a search). All trailer information would be compiled here, as this is for the game, not the trailer. Unless someone wants to seperate the two? (seems unnecessary).
- Oh, sorry, I should have said that better. I meant the section called E3 Trailer, and not the article as a whole. I was suggesting that we call it E3 2006 Trailer. Tom Stringham 23:42, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
OK, I want to know if anyone else is a bit excited about the inclusion of the Cortana Letters in the Trailer. I love the fact that Bungie always goes full circle with their projects and they only end when they have been thouroghly discussed. Is there anything else in the Cortana Letters that we can relate to Halo 3? It seems to me that in the letters Cortana talks about sharing space with a cyborg, probably the Master Cheif, and then seems to get very angry at the fact she is 'sharing'. Maybe Cortana isn't the ally we all thought? Hieros 13:25, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Would it be appropriate to place a link to the trailer on the site either as an external or interal link? Hieros 18:42, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Non new stance
If you'll kindly watch Halo 2's Limited Edition DVD, you'll see that the "rushing" of Halo 2 had nothing to do with Microsoft- it was an internal date set and maintained by Bungie and Bungie alone. Also, Bungie has made statements saying the elements that became the original Halo were assembled primarily in the last 3 months of development (as opposed to roughly six for Halo 2), meaning that the less contraversial of the two titles was the most rushed. Deleting from intro as such, because the whole rushing thing is absurd in the larger context. Microsoft (after Halo's release) has allowed Bungie all the time they want to develop whatever they want, and haven't gotten in the way since. 172.170.235.203 00:04, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
Confirmed Fact?
Should "The majority of the Halo community would prefer the use of the Halo: Combat Evolved Assault Rifle - Pistol combo to the Halo 2 SMG - Battle Rifle combo in Halo 3, although the argument of the unbalanced nature of this is a matter of great contention." Really be listed under confirmed facts? Wieners 01:27, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Not at all.gspawn 15:26, 12 May 2006 (UTC)
- Most Halo players, myself included, probably agree with that, but that can't be put in an encyclopedic article as a statement. Tom Stringham 23:44, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
Actually, I like a energy sword/sniper rifle combo, but it's not that important to an encyclopedic article. Death Dark
Hard Drive on 360?
On the main page, under all the info about ratings and stuff, it says you need a Hard Drive to play it. As far as I'm concerned, all Xbox 360 games do not need the Hard Drive to be played. If the user needs to save info, they can use the HD or a memory unit. Hard drives aren't needed except for Xbox games, so that the emulation profiles can be stored.-Delta Spartan 04:46, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Not true: At least one other 360 game, Football Manager 2006, requires a HDD to play, not just to save. If you have the "Core" 360 with no HDD, you cannot play Fotball Manager 2006, let alone save to a memory card. - Lutzie. (unregistered)
Oh. What's the HDD used for anyway then in that game?-Delta Spartan 17:44, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
- Even though you started this topic you have missed the point about the HDD, no release from MS or Bungie (that i know of) has stated that the HDD will be needed to play Halo 3 so unless some one can show evidence that is they have that comment should be removed. TheEnlightened 20:38, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
There are a few games out there that require the hard drive, final fantasy 11, and eldor scrolls 4 oblivion are two that I know of. Cheesor
- Actually no Xbox 360 games require the hard drive. Games load faster with the HDD because it's interface is faster than the CDROM interface, as well as the fact the HDD caches certain things. Hieros 13:08, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
- Then I take back the eldor scrolls statement, however Final Fantasy 11 does need a hard drive, it uses 5gbs of space. Cheesor
- Oblivion can run with only a memory card. I don't know why you'd ever only have the mem card if you're getting Oblivion, but it's doable. As for FFXI? No clue. gspawn 14:23, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Final Fantasy 11 does need the hard drive, I am extremely sure becuase when I got the beta test it said 5gbs of hard drive space is needed. I think not having a hard drive is not smart anyway because of games like Oblivion, Saints Row, and Crackdown. Cheesor
Gates Quote
There's always confusion about Gates' "PS3 release" quote. I deleted it to avoid confusion, but if anyone asks, here's the breakdown...
- Gates was quoted as saying, not the Halo 3 would launch along with the PS3, but something more like "imagine when Sony launches, and they launch right into Halo 3". The original context of this statement is that "he meant what happens when PS3 launches into a strong Xbox 360 lineup", not that he was announcing Halo 3. He just happened to pick that name to demonstrate how strong he expected the lineup to be. Later, he and others made statements reflecting this.
- Lets just keep this deleted from the intro. The game is releasing ~2007, and that's all people need in the intro. Especially troubling was the last person, who worded the statement to sound like Halo3's projected release date was only changed because of e3- it actually never had one before e3, as per above.gspawn 14:42, 15 May 2006 (UTC)

Frankies says that it is "teh fakez".
- You don't have to be Frankie to know it's a fake. But it helps. gspawn 12:14, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
What else would Frankie say? He told the Halo community that Halo 3 was not in existence. Why else would he tell us that this screenshot is fake? Because of the NDA.
He said no such thing, he was just vague as usual. When Bungie definitively says something is fake, they mean it.
- Exactly. Bungie said "we're not saying anything" whenever it came to ONP (Our Next Project). He never said it was or wasn't Halo 3. gspawn 14:21, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
Assault rifle
Not entirely relevant, but does anyone else notice a rectangular well at the rear of the handguard? Looks awfully similar to the loading well on a shotgun, or pump-action grenade launcher (a la Aliens pulse rifle)
- There are some differences between the weapon in the trailer and the Assault Rifle. Frankie has pointed this out, saying the two do not look the same to him, potentially meaning it could be a new weapon under the hood (an MA5B mk.II for instance).
Halo Forerunner Rumor
Does anyone know what happend to this thing? When I read this in IGN I knew this was fake. I thought, "Theres no way this is the next Halo! A f@#%ing prequel, this is bulls$%#, I want the story finished!" Thank god it wasnt true, but was this really an april fools joke, or is this some kind of Dan Rather thing where IGN got some bogus information? Cheesor
- With all the NDAs Bungie must have made their staff sign, it probably was a fake all along. Or maybe Forerunner is the work in progress after Halo--after all, they said H3 was the last in the storyline, not the Halo series. Ourai 23:59, 17 May 2006 (UTC)
- Bungie came right out and said they thought the "Forerunner" idea was a joke the moment it happened. That's about as direct of an answer as a developer can possibly give. Same for the "Orion" idea too, and the "Orion" game idea was actually based on an April Fool's prank started at halo.bungie.org, so... gspawn 11:20, 18 May 2006 (UTC)
- Then why does IGN continue to stick by their story? Are they that hardheaded to say ""Hey it's just a joke." (that should've ended um...2 months ago) or "Sorry we got our information wrong." I guess we'll know possibly next issue. Cheesor

Halo 3 Logo
Please don't change it to the '3' within the ring. It may be the 'official' logo, but the one I replaced has the Master Chief and a background. It shows more info.

Don't post it again or I'll kill you!!!
WHO THE HELL SET IT AS A PS3 PORT ON THE PLATFORMS SECTION!?!? Microsoft has a contract with Bungie for the halo series. I highly doubt Microsoft will sell thier biggest killer app to sony. Bungie origanally made games for the Mac, but you don't see halo on it. Especially don't post it again if its some uncomfirmed dumbass rumor as it was stated.
