Adityapur is named after Raja Aditya Pratap Singh Deo,the last ruler of Saraikela/Seraikella. It is today an industrial town/sister city, separated from the famous city of Jamshedpur by the Kharkai River. It lies in Seraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand. Today it is considered as a part of Jamshedpur Metropolitian Region. It is predominantly an industrial region and once held the record of being the largest industrial belt in Asia.
Demographics
As of 2011[update] India census,[1] Adityapur had a population of 2,25,628. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Adityapur has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 60% of the males and 40% of females literate. 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Geography
Kharkai river surrounds Adityapur from three sides (except west), and is connected with the well known Cosmopolitan City of Jamshedpur (famous for Tata Steel) through a Toll bridge via Kadma and kharkai bridge via Bistupur over river of Kharkai (east of Adityapur).
Transport
Adityapur has got its own Railway Station (Adityapur Railway Station) and Four lane Expressway Highway (Adityapur-Kandra road) connects Jamshedpur to Barbil via Seraikela, Chaibasa.
Media
Radio Station (called All India Radio, Jamshedpur) follow as, Big FM 92.7, Red FM 93.5, Radio Dhoom 104.8 FM, Vividh Bharati (All India Radio) is broadcast on 100.8 FM.
TV programming is provided by regional news channels like Sahara Samay, ETV Bihar and Jharkhand, Sadhna News Bihar and Jharkhand. There are several news programmes broadcast by local cable operators in city areas.
Economy
Adityapur is one of the largest Industrial Areas in India, and one Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is very soon coming up. and AIADA (Adityapur industrial dovelopment authority). The 'Adityapur Industrial Estate' (33,970 acres,53 sq. mile) which has been Asia's largest Industrial hub for long.About 1,000 industries are locted here and about 250 are under construction.There ar about 20 Large Scale Industries located like TGS,Usha Martin,Adhunik Group,RSB etc. Adityapur Industrial Estate have an Average Annual Production of Rs.4,950 crores.
Education
There is a National Institute of Technology (NIT Jamshedpur), Government Polytechnic College[2], Indo Danish Tool Room and Training Centre[3] for preparing technical hands.
Problems
Adityapur is rapidly growing terms of housing in addition to the small-mid-size industrial sector. Areas that need immediate attention are healthy availability of electricity for both industrial and residential use), facilities of drinking water and sanitation,medical facilities and entertainment.
