The University of Applied and Environmental Sciences (UDCA), under the of the law of the Ministry of National Education Colombia is located at Bogotá the capital of Colombia. The UDCA is a private institution of superior education. It is independent, pluralistic and democratic inspiration, whose mission is based on the constitutional principles and the laws of Superior Education to develop teaching, research and extension in terms of comprehensive professional training with social and environmental engagement, leadership skills and senior citizen values in those action fields that help a fair and equal development for disadvantaged groups in the country.
It develops academic excellence through the generation and dissemination of knowledge, respect for human rights, duties and constitutional SHD benefit of Colombian society. It has three campuses, the university campus located at Calle 222 No. 55-37. School of Economics, Management and Finance headquarters are located in the north of Bogota. In Teusaquillo locality, North Headquarters on 72nd Street is located at the Chapinero[1]
History
The university began as the Corporation School of Veterinary Medicine in 1978, then became the University of Agricultural Sciences Corporation – CUDCA in 1983. Since 1985 expanded the number of programs rose and classes began in 1989 on the campus. On 1992, agricultural engineering program was funded. On 1993, the Sport Sciences was funded. On 1994 the Marketing Sciences program's changed its name to Commercial Engineering. In 1995, the university changed its name to University of Applied and Environmental Sciences Corporation UDCA. Then the corporation continued growing by starting programs such as medicine, veterinary medicine, animal science and geographic engineering specializations and high quality accredited programs.[2]
Today, the university also features the School of Economics, Management and Finance "EEAF" located in the downtown of the city where there are programs such as Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, International Business, Marketing and Finances. It was only until 2004 when the corporation received institutional recognition as a university. In 2005, the corporation adopted the name of University of Applied and Environmental Sciences – UDCA.[3]
Vision
The UDCA be consolidated as a private higher education institution, a leader in the national and international context. It will be recognized for its high standards of quality in the performance of teaching, research, extension and for its commitment to sustainable human development.[4]
Principles
- The UDCA is an autonomous university, because it provides a public service culture, based on the principles of the national constitution (Art. 67.68, 69).[5] and Law 30 of 1992 (Art. 2, 3.[6]
- It accepts pluralistic and democratic because anyone with sufficient preparation, regardless of race, creed, sex, social status, political or economic.
Search the transformation of society by providing alternative solutions to the social, economic, political and cultural development through the articulation of the functions of research, teaching and extension.
- Knowledge is universalized because dora aims for openness to all fields of action and to the internationalization of the institution, seeking to generate scientific knowledge conducive to meeting the needs of national social reality and its dissemination through outreach and extension activities .
- Supports the rescue of socio-cultural values and sustainable human development through the training of the individuals in their biological, cognitive, psychological and social concientizándolo constitutional rights and duties with respect for human rights, peace and democracy.
- Orients their actions toward marginalized communities, promoting active participation processes through which it sought to improve the quality of life of the communities at the regional, local and national.
- Promote the construction of a university with a high social commitment, in the sense of contributing to the transformation of society under the principles of democracy, equality and respect for human rights.
- Form conscious and responsible citizens equipped with a humanistic culture community, environmental and scientific, able to defend, enhance and disseminate the values, strengthening culture and regional identity and national resources and preserving the environment for future generations.
- Assumes the scientific and technological knowledge from a humanistic conception rate that allows the student not be indifferent to the social, cultural and axiological the country we live in, establishing a permanent relationship with our historical and cultural heritage.
- Encourage the development of academic excellence through motivation, responsibility, autonomy and analytical sense, it contributes to the construction of their own knowledge.[7]

The UDCA is a university committed to offering professional success, so it is in constant pursuit of academic excellence, to achieve self-assessment has been used as a tool for improving the quality, so we have been recognized the programs Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Sports Science of the Ministry of Education as a high-quality programs.[9]
