Gavin Fitzjohn

Gavin Fitzjohn is a Welsh musician, known for playing saxophones and trumpet.[1].

Early life

Born in St David's Hospital, Cardiff and brought up in Cogan, Vale of Glamorgan, Gavin began learning the trumpet at the age of 8 and later at 11, the tenor saxophone. .

Musical career

After finishing school, Gavin joined Adequate Seven, playing trumpet with the band for three years. Following the band's split Gavin joined Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly[2] and later Paolo Nutini's band for whom he continues to record[3] and perform live. Gavin spent the majority of 2012 in the USA playing trumpet and guitar for the Cirque Du Soleil show Koozå.

In addition, Gavin has also recorded and performed for a variety of popular artists, including Jools Holland, Gruff Rhys, Hard-Fi, The View and Nadine Coyle.[4]

Personal life

A keen sportsman, Gavin has taken part in charity events, including a 10k run for Cancer Research.[5] He has also played midfield for a Sunday League football team.[6]
