WQSO (96.7 FM, "News Radio 96.7") is a radio station broadcasting a news/talk format. Licensed to Rochester, New Hampshire, USA, the station serves the Rochester-Portsmouth area. The station is currently owned by Clear Channel Communications.[1] The biggest local programming is the station's morning show, the New Hampshire Insider with Paul Westcott.

History

The station signed on in 1979 as WWNH. Then in 1983 the calls were changed to WXKZ and to WCYT in 1986 and within a year to WKOS by 1987.

The station went on the air as WKOS-FM on 1987-12-18. On 1990-12-17, the station changed its call sign to WWEM, on 1995-04-03 to WSRI and on 1997-09-29 to the current WQSO.[2]

On April 1, 2009 Clear Channel flipped WQSO from Oldies to News/Talk while keeping the “Wave” moniker. Most programs heard on WQSO were previously heard on WGIP (a simulcast of WGIR in Manchester) before it was spun off by Clear Channel and became WXEX.

On February 27, 2013 WQSO rebranded as "News Radio 96.7".[3]
