Brooke McEldowney is the creator of the newspaper comic strip 9 Chickweed Lane and the webcomic Pibgorn.

Early life

Born in 1952 in Charleston, West Virginia, McEldowney now lives in Maine. He attended Allegheny College, majoring in Arts. He obtained a Bachelor of Arts from Juilliard School of Music in 1977, and a Master of Arts in 1979, studying the Viola.[1]

Career

9 Chickweed Lane was syndicated by United Media in 1993. It was given the National Cartoonists Society award for Best Newspaper Strip in 2005.[2] It has one collection, Hallmarks of Felinity, published by Andrews McMeel in 2002.[3]

Pibgorn was published in print as Pibgorn: The Girl in the Coffee Cup in 2006, and as "Pibgorn Rep: A Midsummer Night's Dream" in 2008.
