Viqarunnisa Noon School (Template:Lang-bn) is an all-girls school in Bailey Road, Dhaka, Bangladesh; it has about 20,000 students.

History

Viqarunnisa Noon School is one of the renowned schools in Bangladesh. It has a glorious past.It was established in 1952 by Begum [Viqarunnisa Noon], wife of [Firoz Khan Noon], the then governor of [East Pakistan]. From that, till today, this school is keeping its image equally remarkable in the sky of Educational institutions. Founder

Begum Viqar-un-Nisa Hossain Noon (née Victoria) was Austrian by birth.[1] Born in 1920, she married Sir Feroz Khan Noon in 1945,[2] who had been the Indian High Commissioner in England, and would later become the seventh Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Noons often participated in social work and Viqarunnisa Noon School was one of its projects; there is also a Noon Educational Foundation that funds Pakistani students to study in Oxford and Cambridge, alongside the Viqar un Nisa College for Women, Rawalpindi in Pakistan.

Description and activities

Viqarunnisa noon school is one of the best and the biggest schools in Bangladesh only for girls. The main campus is very big. It has 5 buildings, colonies for the teachers and staffs. Viqarunnisa provides transport facility to its student. It has many buses and vans. The campuses are well facilities and very much secure. It also has an English medium section from class 1-10 but in the Baily Road Branch only. It has a big library with a lot of book.

This school has 363 well educated teachers for almost 20,000 students only in the school section. Every year almost 1200 students sit for the S.S.C examination. Except the last year Viqarunnisa is in the first position for 5 years consequently. The education level is very high there. The environment is very friendly. Besides education Viqarunnisa encourage its student for extracurricular activities like, singing, dancing, art etc. Many social works are done here. Different types of workshops based on different social problems are arranged by the students of Viqarunnisa.

The students of Viqarunnisa have a lot of activities. They have clubs that arrange inter-school and inter-college competitions. The science club, debating club, she-nerd’s club, English language club and environment club has been running for more than a decade. Every year they celebrate all the national festivals in their own campus. In 21 February the mother language day they have arranged a provath feri. As viqarunnisa has a shahid minar in its main campus so they give flower and pray for the language martyred there. It also celebrates the 26th March, the Independence Day of Bangladesh and the 16th December, the Victory Day of Bangladesh. They also enjoy 14 April pohela boishakh. then the Boishakhi Mela is held at the school campus.

Students participate in art competitions, and games like, football, badminton, and handball. Every year Viqarunnisa Noon School participates in a display competition on 16 December (the national victory day). Viqarunnisa Noon School always helps its students to learn about the history of Bangladesh, it also gives a scope to the students to know about the culture and helps to adopt those in the students’ life.
