1970-71 Men's Basketball Team - This edition of Billiken basketball brought home the program's first Missouri Valley Conference regular-season title since 1956-57. With a 17-12 overall record, SLU went 9-5 in the league in 1970-71 after stumbling to a 9-17 overall record and a seventh-place finish in the conference the previous year. Head coach Bob Polk's staff included assistant coaches Randy Albrecht and Bill Bibb and manager Paul Donnelly. On the roster were Jim Bryan Tom Fisher, Mark Frailey, All-Conference guard Jim Irving, Gary Lamps, Jesse Leonard, Mike Lockette, Carlos Martinez, Bill Paradoski, Harry Rodgers, Rich Stallworth, Bob Wade and Sam Williams.
