The Netherlands Red Cross Society was established in 1867 in the Netherlands. It has a branch governance structure which has approximately 334 branches that enables it to serve the whole country. [2] It is run by proffessional staff at the district level in collaboration with 33,000 volunteers who are distributed countrywide. This organisation is supported by 610,000 contributing members and donors who provide financial help regularly . The turnover in 2006 was approximately €58.8 million.[2]
