Proprietors: Kammath & Kammath is a 2013 Malayalam action-comedy film written by Udayakrishna-Siby K. Thomas, directed by Thomson K. Thomas and produced by Anto Joseph. The film features Mammootty and Dileep in the title roles and Karthika Nair, Rima Kallingal and Narain in supporting roles. Tamil film actor Dhanush has a cameo role in the film as himself.
Plot summary
Brothers Raja Raja Kammath (Mammootty) and Deva Raja Kammath (Dileep) attempt to open a new branch of their restaurant in a renovated hotel. Problem arises when an opposition hotel owner fears that opening Kammath brothers hotel will affect his business. He with the help of (Suraj Venjaramoodu)try to stop kammath brothers from opening the hotel.
Mahalakshmi (Rima Kallingal)is a municipal secretary who mistake kammath brothers as Suraaj provide her with wrong information about them. She neglects to provide them with the hotel license were as Raja Raja kammath obtains license from the minister. Cold war starts between kammath brothers and Mahalakshmi. One night Raja Raja kammath save mahalakshmi from a gang of goons who is trying to harass her.
Gopi (Baburaj) is Kammath brother's driver & bodyguard. Mahalakshmi ask Raja Raja kammath for a help as someone is following her sister Rekha (Karthika Nair) everyday on the way to her work, Raja raja kammath finds out that the stranger who is following Rekha is none other than his own brother Deva raja kammath(Dileep). He goes to mahalakshmi's house to ask Rekha's hand in marriage.
After several twists it is revealed that Rekha is actually Mahalakhmi's sister-in-law. She was married to her brother Suresh(Narain)who is an Indian Revenue Service officer (assistant commissioner of incometax). Her brothers who refuse to give her hand in marriage as she is the owner of all the properties they enjoy kill Suresh at their first night. But the kerala police could not locate the criminal and Rekha's brothers are trying to take her back.
It is also revealed that Rekha is dump. Dileep still in love with her persuades Rekha to accept his love and marry him. On the day of marriage Rekha's brothers try to kill Dileep and the brothers manage to fight and hand them over to the police.
Dileep weds Rekha and Mahalakshi is married to Krishna Kumar, with whom her marriage was fixed earlier by her brother Suresh. After solving some issues with Municipal Secretary, Mahalakshmi (Rima Kallingal), they are asked to help with her sister, Sree Rekha (Karthika Nair).

Production
Casting
Mammootty was chosen to play a prominent character. The character of his brother in film was originally chosen as Jayaram but due to unavailability of dates project, Dileep was cast to replace him.[1] Kunchacko Boban had been approached to do the role of Income tax officer, but he opted out due to schedule conflicts.[2] Dhanush was chosen to play a star who comes to Kerala to inaugurate a hotel owned by the Kammath Brothers, played by Mammootty and Dileep.[3]
Locations
Scenes from the film were shot in Kochi.[4]
Release
The film was shown in additional theatres where Vishwaroopam had been banned from being released.[5]

Critical reception
The film received mixed to positive reviews. Paresh C Palicha of Rediff.com rated the film 2/5 describing it as an "atrocity on the viewer."[6] IndiaGlitz.com gave 6.25/10 for the movie and stated "These Kammath brothers are strictly for those who relish masala entertainers" but it did give a positive review of the songs.[7] Sify.com gave the overall summary of the film as "tedious" and their review says that "only Baburaj manages to make the viewers laugh" and that "There is no credible storyline that is worth mentioning and the script lacks any imagination or depth."[8] The Times of India gave a rating of 3/5 for the movie, stating "Mammootty and Dileep, gifted actors they are, put together their best to salvage what can be called as a sloppy narrative strewn with drab characters."[9]
