Heiner Backhaus (born 4 February 1982 in Witten, Germany) is a professional footballer.[1] He plays as midfielder and is currently unattached.[2]

Playing career

Heiner Backhaus is a german football player and coach. He is one out of two players,who played in all continents.Backhaus started his career in the academy of german club FC Schalke 04,before beeing transfered to former german champion Werder Bremen. Playing 3 Years for Werder, he decided to move abroad and was loaned to Melbourne Victory in Australia.Backhaus expressed many times during his carreer, that he never felt german. Playing for clubs in Cyprus, Greece, Malta Egypt, Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey and Lebanon completed his journey. While playing as a professional footballer, Backhaus graduated in Sportsmanagement in the distance Hagen University and completed successfully the UEFA A licence as football coach. Recently, Backhaus assisted german coach Ewald Lienen at the greek club AEK Athens.
