Article About Somalia
The US's Somali Intervention
[UN Security Council Resolution 733 and UN Security Council Resolution 746 led to the creation of UNOSOM I, the first mission to provide humanitarian relief and help to restore order in Somalia after the dissolution of its central government.
United Nations Security Council Resolution 794 was unanimously passed on December 3, 1992, which approved a coalition of United Nations peacekeepers led by the United States. Forming the Unified Task Force (UNITAF), the alliance was tasked with assuring security until humanitarian efforts aimed at stabilizing the situation were transferred to the UN. Landing in 1993, the UN peacekeeping coalition started the two-year United Nations Operation in Somalia II (UNOSOM II) primarily in the south.[11] UNITAF's original mandate was to use "all necessary means" to guarantee the delivery of humanitarian aid in accordance to Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter,[12] and is regarded as a success.[13]
Some of the militias that were competing for power interpreted the UN troops' presence as a threat to their hegemony. Consequently, several gun battles between local gunmen and the peacekeepers took place in Mogadishu. Among these was the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, an unsuccessful attempt by U.S. troops to apprehend faction leader General Mohamed Farrah Hassan Aidid. UN soldiers eventually withdrew altogether from the country on March 3, 1995, having incurred more significant casualties.] The US intervened Somalia politics recently because is not being only a residence of Al-Qaeda,but also an epitome of failed state. Moreover, Somalia has the longest coast in the East of Africa and many shipments passed through the Indian Ocean; the US troops administer to safeguard aid shipments to Somalia and other international shipments that pass through the India Ocean[1].

This article has been edited almost three days by Abdi Aar and it is being fun thing to do. It talks about the connection between the U.S and Somalia and it shows that the U.S always involves Somali affairs because it has natural sources such as petrol. [1] This article talks about the tie between the U.S government and Somalia [2] This article says, "Nearly two-thirds of Somalia was allocated to the American oil giants Conoco, Amoco,...Industry sources said the companies holding the rights to the most promising concessions are hoping that the Bush Administration’s decision to send U.S. troops to safeguard aid shipments to Somalia will also help protect their multimillion-dollar investments there." It says, U.S supports because of it's oil resources and they have close tie Somalia. [3] This article mentions that U.S involves Somali policies because there are many terrorist groups in Somalia and the U.S wants to destroy them. [4]
