Hackensack Christian School (HCS) is a private Christian school in northern New Jersey, located in Hackensack, New Jersey, United States.[5] Hackensack Christian Schools was founded in 1973 as a ministry of First Baptist Church of Hackensack.[4][6] HCS was originally going to be named First Baptist Bible School for the church, First Baptist Church of Hackensack. The School is part of the American Association of Christian Schools (AACS), Garden State Association of Christian Schools (GSACS),and Metro Christian Athletic Association (MCAA). Hackensack Christian Schools also accept international students through the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP and I-20)[7]

As of the 2010-11 school year, the school had an enrollment of 146 students[3] (in K-12 plus 31 students in PreKindergarten) and 16.8 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a Student-teacher ratio of 1:11.

Athletics

Hackensack Christian School offers Co-Ed Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, and Volleyball.[8] Co-Ed Junior Varsity teams go from grades 5-8, Varsity Boys from grades 9-12, and Varsity Girls from grades 9-12. The Basketball JV team go from grades 5-8 and Varsity team 9-12.[9] Hackensack Christian Schools is part of the Metro Christian Athletic Association (MCAA). HCS website says "Whatever the sport, the goal is always to win; more importantly, through, our goal is to bring glory and honor to Jesus Christ. There are times when that goal is achieved only through what shows on the scoreboard as a loss but turns into a gain."

Academics

Hackensack Christian School offers many academics in there curriculum. HCS's curriculum includes: Bible, Language Arts, Science, Mathematics, American & World History, Spanish, Speech, Health, Physical Education, Computers, Music, Fine Art, Photoshop, Graphic Design, and Video Production. The school has 2 computer labs one is a computer lab and the other one is the laptop cart.[10] The school offers elective periods which is used to work on projects for Academic Day.[11] The school does many things for Academic Day such as Choir, Handbells, Art, Speech, Drama, Recitals, and solos.[12] The school also provides lessons for musical instruments. Those instruments include: Violin, percussion, woodwind and brass, guitar, and piano.[13]
