Khalid Saeed Khan, born March 5, 1954, is the Principal of the College of Physiotherapy in the Mayo Hospital at Lahore, Pakistan.[1] He has made important contributions is the field of Physiotherapy. In his own words:

" Physiotherapy is essentially one of the healing sciences which pertains to the assessment of Musculo skeletal and Neurological disorders of function including pain and those of Psychosomatic origin. It also deals with treatment by natural sources, based on movement, manual therapy and other physical agents to relieve pain, promote healing, prevent or ameliorate deformity, improve function, body health, stimulate or habilitate development in a child or rehabilitate those impaired by disease or trauma."[2]

Academic Life

He got his B.Sc. Physiotherapy degree from JPMC Karachi, 1978. He also did a course of Sports Medicine by Dr. Thomas Freud Canada organized by Federation of International de Football Association held at Lahore in 1992. He was appointed as the Head of Physiotherapy Department Jinnah Hospital Lahore. He, later on became the Principal of Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy, Allama Iqbal Medical Complex, Lahore, (Pakistan). He is currently the Principal of College of Physiotherapy, Mayo Hospital Lahore.[3]

Professional Experience

  1. Appointment as Assistant Physiotherapist, Pioneer Physiotherapist, Head of Department Of Physiotherapy Civil Hospital, Faisal Abad, Pakistan.
  2. Appointment as Assistant Physiotherapist, Physiotherapy Department, Mayo Hospital, Lahore.
  3. Worked for Patients in The Physiotherapy Department, AVH, Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Unit, Chest Surgery unit, Medical, Surgical and Emergency Ward from 1980 to September 1985.
  4. Lecturer Physiotherapist at school of Physiotherapy, Mayo Hospital, Lahore. From September 1985 to 1989.
  5. Transferred to Services Hospital, Lahore as Head of Physiotherapy Department from 1989 to 1992.
  6. Posted at Jinnah Hospital, Lahore as head of Physiotherapy department from 1994 to 2005.
  7. Appointed as physiotherapist for world cup cricket in 1987 held in India and Pakistan.
  8. Appointed as Physiotherapist for World Cup Hockey in 1990 at Lahore.
  9. Appointed during junior World Cup Hockey Tournament in 1991 held at Lahore.
  10. Appointed as Physiotherapist for National Junior Hockey Tournament in 1992 held at Lahore.
  11. Posted as Principal School of Physiotherapy, Mayo Hospital and Lahore. Taken charge on April 2, 2005, and relinquished on May 24, 2005
  12. Posted as Head of Physiotherapy department Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, on May 24, 2005.[4]

Other Achievements

  1. Prepared curriculum B.Sc Physiotherapy for Punjab University, Lahore. In 1985.
  2. Prepared Curriculum for Physiotherapy Technician Course to be started by the Punjab Medical Faculty Lahore in 2002.
  3. Prepared Curriculum for Physiotherapy Post Graduate diploma courses for the subjects of General surgery and Gynecology & Obstetrics by the University of Health Sciences in 2002.
  4. Appointed examiner for B.Sc Physiotherapy by the University of Punjab since 1987.
  5. Appointed as Technical expert for Affiliation of B.Sc. Physiotherapy classes of Institute of Allied Health professions, Children Hospital Lahore, in the University of the Punjab, Lahore in1999.
  6. Appointed examiner for B.Sc Physiotherapy by the Isra University Hyderabad 2003
  7. Appointed as member Affiliation Committee by University of health Sciences Lahore, for affiliation of number of Institutions,
  8. Appointed Dean Gulshan Ara Physiotherapy Postgraduate Institute, Lahore, Pakistan, in January 2007
  9. Principal, Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy, Allama Iqbal Medical Complex, Lahore(Pakistan)2008[5]
  10. Organized the First All Punjab Physiotherapy Annual Sports Gala in 2010 hosted by Allama Iqbal College of Physiotherapy, Jinnah Hospital Lahore at Allama Iqbal Medical Complex,Lahore.

Honors

He was initially appointment as Assistant Physiotherapist in 1980. Later, in 1986, he became a Lecture Physiotherapist. He was later on promoted to a rank of BS. 19 on December 1, 1999.

He Organized first Physiotherapy Congress under the flag Punjab Health Department Physiotherapists association in December 1984. He also attended the Conference for torture victim Patients at Lahore in 1991.[7]
