Captain Star is an animated children's TV series starring Richard E. Grant as Captain Jim Star.

The series takes place on a rocketship, The Boiling Hell, which has been ordered to a deserted planet known only as "The Nameless Planet" at the Ragged End Of The Universe. The ship's crew consists of the egocentric and often paranoid Captain Star, Dana Scully-esque science officer Scarlett, nine-headed engineer Jones and fishkeeping navigator Black. They were later joined by a robot, Jim-Bob-Bob, who performs laundry duty and various duties of servitude.

Throughout the series, the characters await further orders from Mission Control, a very large space station. These orders never come, as the mission is simply a ploy to get rid of the obnoxious Captain Star. However, events take place both on and off the planet that require Star's intervention.

The series is based on a comic by Steven Appleby. Only thirteen episodes of the 30-minute series were produced and aired. The show ran on British ITV and the Canadian Teletoon Network from 1997 to 1998.
