Szentlászló is a village in Baranya county, Hungary.

Location

The village take place in northwestern's side of Baranya (in Zselic). The next city Szigetvár is lying 13 km from the village. Baranya's county seat Pécs lying 47 km. There was a MÁV railway between Szigetvár and the secont proximate city Kaposvár. Since the '70s, the only way to come the village is the main road numbered 67, and with bus. The through traffic is big, because the trucks are going to Lake Balaton goes there.

History

Before the '50s, Szentlászló placed in Somogy. The first written sources derives from 1287-1240. The patron saint is Saint Ladislaus I. In there place was a rectory named Margitapuszta. Szentlászló's rectory is given by Ladislaus I. In the turkish occupation doesn't have constant population. In the 18th century Germans are come to the village. After the II World War they deploymented to the NDK,and instead of they, comes people from Slovakia. The first church built in 1738. The present church sacred in 1821. The Germans has their own ethnic council, what is opened in 2002. The primary school is an ethnic school.

Village museum

It's take place next to the 67th main road. In this museum there are some old Kraut clothes, furniture, and others.

Corn museum

The only in the country. The proximate museum like that in Romania. There are puppets, and furniture from the corn's "hair".

King St. Ladiuslaus Primary School

The village's school, with classes 1 to 8 (1-4, and higher 5-8). The school has programs like "german day", football matches, and some other event.

Kindergarten

For the younger generation, but they are more less. It has 2 groups, but too little children. It has a dinner place in the other side, where everybody who demand can eat.

St. Ladislaus Roman Catholic Church

It can be found in a Y-corner next to school and kindergarten. This church built up in 1821, and get renewed in 2001 because the tower started to fall out the road.
