Aksaray malaklisi

Aksaray malaklisi is a Molosser type, Livestock guardian dog. The breed originated from the middle anatolian city of Aksaray, Turkey. Aksaray Malaklisi is the largest of the anatolian shepherd dog breeds, superior to the famous kangal dog in size. Their name originates from the Turkish word used in Aksaray city "malak" meaning lip, and "malakli" meaning "with lips" due to the breeds black, dropped, notable lips.[1]

Appearance

Aksaray Malaklisi looks similar to english mastiff and kangal dog however, there are some major appearance differences. Appearance differs from Kangal dog with thicker legs and body. Also notable dropped lips differ from Kangal dog. Appearance differs from English mastiff with longer legs and athlethic body shape. [2]

As a working class

Aksaray Malaklisi is an instinctive guardian dog. Malakli dogs are also used as Livestock guardian dog. Malakli dogs are not recognized by any international or national kennel clubs.

Origins

There is no evidence but only rumors about the origin of Malakli dogs. There is a rumor of english mastiff mixed with kangal dog or anatolian shepherd dog. This rumor seem to be wrong as there is already a breed called american mastiff which is a mix of anatolian shepherd dog and english mastiff. This breed's appearance is different from aksaray malaklisi. A more relible belief is most shepherd dogs in the caucasian-anatolian area are evolved from the same mastiff like dog which is the ancestor of Caucasian Shepherd Dog, alabai, Kangal dog, Akbash Dog, Anatolian Shepherd and english mastiff.
