Products
FAMMOORR050
Kiruna Wagon’s first order was the development of ore freight wagon FAMMOORR050 for Swedish mining company LKAB. This order constitutes Sweden’s largest wagon project to date with a total order value of SEK 800 million. The short-coupled FAMMOORR050 carries up to 100 tonnes, which is 25 per cent more than the previous generation wagons.
FAMMOORR050 is manufactured in collaboration with Kockums Industrier in Malmö that builds the chassis. Kiruna Wagon is responsible for manufacturing the basket and hatch system, and for the final assembly of the undercarriage. In September 2012, Kiruna Wagon delivered the 1000th wagon to LKAB.
TAIMN091
In 2009 Kiruna Wagon received an order to manufacture 25 ore concentrate wagons for the Swedish mining and smelting company Boliden AB. Concentrate Wagon TAIMN091 is a closed container wagon for the transport of ore concentrate in an environmentally sustainable way. The 4-axle bogie wagon measures a little over twelve metres and has a capacity of carrying 73 metric tonnes, or 40.5 m3. The wagon is equipped with a roof for environmental reasons and is constructed for both left and right-side tipping. The subarctic climate influences the choice of materials and the wagon is made mainly of advanced high-strength steels from Swedish steel company SSAB.
Ore wagons for Northland Resources
In April 2012, Kiruna Wagon entered into an agreement with international mining company Northland Resources S.A. to produce 150 iron ore wagons for the transport of ore concentrate from Northland’s transhipment terminal in Pitkäjärvi in Sweden, to the ice-free port of Narvik in Norway. Constructed mainly of high-strength steels, with yield strength of 700 MPa, the wagon designed for Northland has a low tare weight to maximize payload and is designed with a basket turning solution for optimized discharge.
Other products & services
Besides building wagons, Kiruna Wagon provides logistics solutions for loading and unloading ore, under and above ground.
