Reverting

Do you mean reverting one or more of an editor's edits with one click? That's rollbacking, and yeah you need special permission. You can only use it to deal with vandalism, or a troll editor who keeps doing something stupid you've told him before not to do. Only an admin can give it to you, so best idea is to find a friendly admin (maybe one you've had good dealings with before) and ask about it. If you misuse it, you lose it again. I wish. An article can be semi-protected, which would stop unregistered users editing it, but it would only be temporary, and an admin would only semi-protect if the article was being vandalised 5, 10+ times a day. Just a heads-up, categories like "Melbourne" are for articles, not talk pages. Cats like Category:Wikipedians in Australia are fine, but your personal page was appearing on the main category for all of Australia, so I "disarmed" the categories for you. Just FYI. Like you, I am interested in rock music, though I am not as knowledgeable about AC/DC as you are. I have a clear memory of seeing their name as spray painted graffiti in an alley in Marin County in the 1970s, well before they first toured the U.S. But I am not a reliable source. I think they were popular on American hard rock radio before they reached these shores. As time goes on, my respect for their place in the rock pantheon grows.

Vandalism is not my intention

Excuse me but it seems you are confusing your verbs. I am not in any way "vandalising" an article by swapping an image around to (usually) a more updated, clearer quality picture. If that's vandalism to you then you possibly need to re think your outlook on editing. As far as I know images are changed frequently on Wikipedia without any fuss, and it is utterly ridiculous that you are so rigid when it comes to replacing photos. Stop with the "if it's broke don't fix it" mentality because that's just going to end up leaving articles in a poor state, you are very uncompromising when all I'm trying to do is add a bit of photographic variation. 121.220.222.63 (talk) 11:45, 17 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi and thanks for raising your concerns. If you want to edit articles, you need to do so within Wikipedia guidelines and policies. The issue, which I have explained on several occasions, is that you are not permitted to replace an image with one of your own choice without gaining consensus. Use the talk pages and discuss your proposed changes. I am not saying that your changes are bad, incorrect or unwarranted changes, just that they are your opinion and there have been several instances where other editors have disagreed. See WP:CONSENSUS. You can continue to make changes without discussing them first but the chances of them being reverted will be much higher, and you are likely to end up in an edit war. That is understandable, those editors who have reverted the edits are a few in particular that like their own way on Wikipedia and are very resistant to change, especially on Melbourne related articles. Each time the editor does it, they get a warning. When they do it after a final warning they get a report to admin for consideration of a block. In this case, an admin was already watching their page and after I warned, they stepped in and blocked the. The song was called Fuck Me (as listed in the tracklist section) and for some reason, this comes as vandalism.
