Drop City Yacht Club is a hip hop music group furnished from Platform, LLC to A&M/Octone Records through a joint venture with Exit 8 Records. The members of Drop City Yacht Club include A-Wolf (Anthony Cozzo) and Kristo, two white rappers and THX one black producer. They were originally called The Freshmen, but adopted their new moniker in early 2013. The group is known to not take a typical approach to the makings of a rap record, as they describe themselves to be individually crazed artists all collaborating into one unique approach. Their style includes a fuse of savvy hip hop, crafty pop and a splash of light 60’s rock. Group Member A-Wolf would describe these characteristic of their craft similar to the Beach Boys and Beastie Boys. Their first release is a single entitled "Crickets" featuring R&B singer Jeremih . A&M/Octone executive VP/head of promotion Ben Berkman explains, Jeremih was picked to redo the hook of “Crickets” to give it a rhythmic format. This song is making fun of their own rejections. The hit has been resting at number 14 of Billboards artist Top 40. Their YouTube video for “Crickets” has over one and a half million YouTube views. Their debut album will be released in the fall of 2013. [1]
