- File:Zalgiris-CSKA.jpg (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Pofka (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
Nonfree image used for decorative purposes, rationale for use unclear. There are already many free images illustrating this basketball club. (ESkog)(Talk) 14:22, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- Keep There is no images illustrating Žalgiris during soviet times. (Pofka)
- Keep Its used in an article about the subject. Fair usage laws and common sense apply. Dream Focus 01:19, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- So even if we have six free images on an article, that justifies inclusion of a seventh non-free image which serves the same purpose? That seems to fly in the face of WP:NFCC 3a. (ESkog)(Talk) 12:44, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- ESkog, it seems all you can do is mess up somebody's else work instead of doing something useful by your self. The photos are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT and there may be thousands of them describing each of the subject in question, since photo of it cannot be made at the moment. End of story. (Pofka)

- Delete per WP:NFCC #8. We don't need a non-free image to understand that the team played in Soviet times, so the abscence of this image would not be detrimental to understanding of the article. INeverCry 17:09, 30 May 2013 (UTC)

- File:Flag of the New Zealand Ministry of Transport 1968-1998.png (delete | talk | history | links | logs) – uploaded by Expatkiwi (notify | contribs | uploads | upload log).
A historical flag which is not used in the infobox and doesn't particularly seem to identify the NZ Ministry of Transport. There's no cited discussion in the article about this image, so it doesn't pass the NFCC (specifically 3a and 8). (ESkog)(Talk) 19:54, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
Personally, I think you're over-reacting. The flag existed and this rendition is accurate.--Expatkiwi(talk) 20:02, 22 May 2013 (UTC)

- Keep - This logo represents the flag used by the MOT in New Zealand and if anyone questions the accuracy a quick Google and I found this photo, https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/550196_456885954353052_906906072_n.jpg This also represents the MOT logo that was on all traffic patrols vehicles prior to 1992 when the NZ Police took over the duties of highway patrol. Bhowden (talk) 07:38, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- There seems to be some confusion in many of the comments here as to why I've proposed that this image should be deleted. I agree that it is the correct flag which was used at the time - that's not in dispute. The question is on whether we can justify the inclusion of an old non-free logo via our non-free content criteria; I contend that we cannot. (ESkog)(Talk) 17:00, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- During this conversation the image has been retagged as {{PD-ineligible}}. Unless the seal is in the public domain I don't think that tag applies here. (ESkog)(Talk) 21:51, 2 June 2013 (UTC)
- It was also moved to Commons where it was quickly deleted. --Stefan2 (talk) 22:23, 2 June 2013 (UTC)

Invalid FUR: Non-free content is used only if its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding. This image is not critical for understanding, but is used in a decorative fashion. Since this file does not greatly enhance understanding, nor will its omission greatly decrease understanding, it must be deleted. —Justin (koavf)❤T☮C☺M☯ 23:28, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- Keep and hold action on all of these images pending a wider community discussion. I respect your good faith in submitting this batch of deletion nominations, but IMO the issue needs to be reviewed by the community before any of the images in question are deleted. This comment applies as well to the deletions you proposed later (2013 May 23), and I have placed a similar note there. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 04:57, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Keep per Richwales. As stated by others below, these images are illustrative of the episodes and increase understanding, so their use seems appropriate. - I don't think that's the case at all - infobox screenshots for TV shows have been removed time and again from TV shows. While there is a conundrum about the best way to proceed, infobox images that don't add to a reader's understanding are violations of our non-free content policy. --B (talk) 12:10, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Delete: Clear failure of WP:NFCC#8. None of the keep arguments indicate what significant increase in understanding this image generates or what detrimental effects would occur from its omission.—Kww(talk) 21:52, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- Delete, obvious case, as per multiple precedents. Typical example of an image that was evidently uploaded merely as a matter of routine, without any claim to individual explanative significance. Random shot of simply one of the standard characters in an entirely stereotypical pose. Entirely non-specific boilerplate FUR (this makes the image a speedy deletion candidate independently of the outcome of this FFD). Article consists almost entirely of plot renarration and contains no analytical commentary in any way related to the image. Fut.Perf. ☼ 05:52, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know what the right answer is for how to nominate these, but having hundreds of separate "discussions" (really just copy/paste replies) is not it. If there is an individual image somewhere in this mess that is important because it does show something critical to the reader's understanding, you may want to say so beyond just copying/pasting a statement. --B (talk) 12:10, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- There was once a mass nomination at WP:NFCR about all episodes from one season, with the result that all of them were deleted. I'm not sure whether this or that is the ideal situation. Any reason to keep any individual image would obviously depend on individual things in the articles, and then a mass nomination is inappropriate. On the other hand, individual discussions typically turn out to be a lot of copying and pasting of identical comments to multiple sections on the same page, and that also seems to be inappropriate. --Stefan2 (talk) 12:26, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- I know and I fully recognize that it's a darned if you do and darned if you don't. But there's just no way that something like this is going to result in individual discussions being evaluated by a closing admin. I picked a few at random and looked at them just to see if any of them were being used for purposes other than decoration and the ones I looked at all seem to be just infobox images used decoratively with no commentary about the image. Those need to go away ... but if there are any that are being used transformatively, they need to be pointed out so that they don't get thrown out with the bathwater. --B (talk) 15:18, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Also, it should be noted that I found two of them that are used in other articles. Whoever handles these needs to take care no to just go right down the list and hit the delete button without checking to see if an image is used in an episode other than the episode article. Romulan and Redshirt (character) both use images under a claim of fair use and both of these are appropriate, or, at least, worthy of a separate discussion. --B (talk) 15:33, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

- Delete Just a man sitting in a sofa. Easily replaceable by text. Additionally, the image violates WP:NFCC#10b. Straightforward enforcement of the usage instructions for {{Infobox episode}}: "There is no blanket allowance for an image per episode. A non-free screenshot should only be used if it meets the Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, i.e. typically if it is required to illustrate a crucial element of the episode that is the object of explicit, sourced analytical commentary and where that commentary is in need of visual support to be understood." --Stefan2 (talk) 12:21, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

- Well, I think the point of it is to illustrate the overly complex apology ritual of the Kreetassans that Captain Archer has to follow. It is mentioned in the text, "Finally swallowing his pride, the captain then goes down to the Kreetassan capital city and delivers an intricate ritual apology which involves slicing a tree trunk with a chainsaw, arranging the pieces of wood in a complex pattern on the ground, and chanting phrases in the Kreetassan language."
