Storyline

Clash of Clans is an online multiplayer strategy game. Players build their village by purchasing items from the in-game shop, using gold and elixir as their currency. They upgrade their buildings to unlock new items and expand their capabilities, train troops (which can also be upgrading to give more damage) and attack other players' villages to get gold and elixir. They can also build and upgrade their village defenses to protect from the attacks of other players.

The game includes a global chat so players can communicate with other players and a clan chat so they can communicate with other players in their clan. Players can join clans to aid each other once they have rebuilt their clan castle.

Players upgrade their town halls to unlock new buildings and new upgrades, and when they upgrade to a level eight town hall, player are able to build a dark elixir drill, which enables them to get dark elixir (another currency players use to buy items and upgrades). It is a lot rarer than elixir so it is worth much more.

Players can also buy an in-game currency called gems for real money. Gems enable players to finish building upgrades and troop training immediately (since you have to wait a set amount of time to upgrade buildings and train and upgrade troops). Gems can also be used to buy gold, elixir and dark elixir without having to wait for your mines to produce it or raid villages to acquire it. You can also earn Gems by completing achievements. The types of buildings are: defensive, resource, army, decorations, obstacles, Town hall, clan castle, and altars. Defensive buildings, such as cannons, turrets, and traps protect your village from enemy attack. Resource buildings supply resources. Army buildings store or produce troops. The Town Hall is the heart of your village. Upgrading it unlocks the availability to construct new buildings. The clan castle enables you to join or create a clan. Clans are alliances for troop support and collaboration.
