ECW One Night Stand 2006 is a forthcoming pay-per-view event promoted by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It will take place at the Hammerstein Ballroom on June 11, 2006. This event will feature former wrestlers from the defunct Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion, whose holdings WWE purchased in bankruptcy court. The event was announced by Paul Heyman and Tazz at a house show on February 18, 2006. Paul Heyman and Tommy Dreamer will be booking the event and will be in complete control of the ECW PPV this year, however all ideas will be run by Vince McMahon before the final product hits the airwaves.
The event is being heavily criticized for the fact that the roster available for the show is very limited, due to some big-name ECW alumni (such as Raven, Shane Douglas, Rhino, and the Dudley Boys) being signed to contracts with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). However, Paul Heyman has said that there are no issues regarding to getting enough talent to appear at the PPV.
On the May 22, 2006 edition of RAW, Rob Van Dam announced he will cash in his title shot (won at WrestleMania 22 in the Money in the Bank ladder match) at One Night Stand against WWE Champion John Cena. On the May 29 edition of Raw, Paul Heyman mentioned the possibility of, if Rob Van Dam were to win the match, the title becoming the new ECW World Title. Another match announced on that night is a tag team match with Tommy Dreamer and Terry Funk against Mick Foley and Edge.
WWE.com reports that the event was sold out within 2 hours, on April 15, 2006.

There are also several former ECW performers currently under contract to WWE that could appear, including Chris Benoit, Little Guido, Dean Malenko, Al Snow, Kid Kash, Johnny Swinger (Johnny Parisi), Nova (Simon Dean), Psicosis, Super Crazy, Steven Richards, Vito "The Skull" LoGrasso (Vito), Joey Matthews (Joey Mercury), Dusty Rhodes and "Extreme Superstar" Steve Austin (Stone Cold Steve Austin).
Wrestlers who currently do not work for either WWE or TNA, such as Chris Jericho, The Blue Meanie, Yoshihiro Tajiri, Pitbull #1, Jason Knight, Dawn Marie, Mike Awesome, Lance Storm and others who appeared at last year's ECW One Night Stand may appear or wrestle at this year's ECW event.
Despite rumors referring to the contrary, Steve Corino had issued a statement that he would not be appearing at this year's One Night Stand. Corino also refused to work any of the ECW reunion shows last year citing that what he did in ECW "was in the past" and that the WWE are only putting on ECW events to "sell more DVDs." [1]
Many TNA stars have previously worked for ECW, including The Dudley Boyz (Team 3D), Raven, Rhino, Shane Douglas, and Jerry Lynn, among others.
New Jack did not appear last year because of an outstanding warrant, which has since been cleared. He is eligible to appear at this year's One Night Stand, if he is given an invitation. New Jack recently stated that he has put all grudges with Paul Heyman behind and that he would be willing to work with Paul Heyman for the upcoming relaunched ECW brand, which was officially announced to begin on June 13.[2].
