Devar Hipparagi is a town in Bijapur district, about 35 km to the east of Bijapur. It is in the Indian state of Karnataka.

Geography

Devar Hipparagi is located at 16°55′N 76°14′E / 16.92°N 76.23°E / 16.92; 76.23.[1] It has an average elevation of 500 metres (1640 feet)

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Devar Hipparagi had a population of 20,000. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Devar Hipparagi has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 63%, and female literacy is 49%. 16% of the population is under 6 years of age. It has been given the status of Taluka recently. It gets its name because of many temples and the gods.
