Meaning of Kies

What does Kies mean? Is this some Korean word?
There is a German word "Kies" meaning "gravel" in English. That is quite certainly not the meaning here though. 20.133.40.85 (talk) 14:06, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

"Kies" was originally an acronym, as "K.I.E.S." (Key Intuitive Easy System). This acronym was discontinued after KIES version 2.0. I added this information to the wiki page, but I was unable to find an actual source for this on the Internet. My source, personally, is my Samsung technical training. If anyone can find a reliable source for this information on the Internet, I'd appreciate if you could put that source in the article. I'll keep looking though.
