Kolašin (Serbian Cyrillic: Колашин) is a city and municipality in Montenegro. It was founded by Turks in the 17th century. The restless rivers Tara and Morača, stream along it and is surrounded by mountains. Sinjajevina, Bjelasica, Ključ and Vucje embraced this little city. Kolašin is located at 954 m of altitude and offers excellent vacation as in the winter as well as the summer. Because of the altitude and favorable climb, Kolašin is considered an air spa. A special attraction for tourists represents the Biogradsko Lake located in National park Biogradska gora, which is one of three preserved virgin forests of Europe. The Biogradsko Lake is at 1094 m of altitude and around it, there are walking paths.

On the most recent Montenegrin independence referendum, out of a total of 7,405 legimitimate voters, 6,820 (92.1%) have voted. 3,903 (57.78%) voted to keep the Union with Serbia and 2,852 (42,22%) voted for indepence of Montenegro.
