Kassandreia (Template:Lang-el, before 1955: Βάλτα - Valta,[2] meaning "town in the swamps") is a town and a community in Chalkidiki, northern Greece. It is the seat of the municipality of Kassandra, in the center of the peninsula. Its population was 2,775 at the 2011 census.[1] Relatively unknown because of its zero tourist attraction but full of life in winter. Known in Greece for being the smallest town with a football team playing for the Beta Ethniki (managed to take the 4th place) and for the high debt the municipality was in at the start of the 2000s.[citation needed]
