Research associate
Appearance
Research associate is an academic research position at a university, research facility or similar institution. A research associate usually conducts research under the supervision of a principal investigator, although there is a lot of variability in the degree of independence. In contrast to a research assistant, a research associate often has a graduate degree, such as a master's (e.g. Master of Science) or doctoral degree (e.g. Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine).[1] In some cases it can be synonymous with postdoctoral research.
