Getaway is an upcoming American action thriller film starring Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez. Directed by Courtney Solomon and written by Gregg Maxwell Parker and Sean Finegan, the film will be distributed by Warner Bros., the last film to have Dark Castle Entertainment by Warner Bros. Pictures, before Universal Pictures took over in 2013. Though originally reported to be a remake of the 1972 film The Getaway, the film is actually an original story.[1]

Plot

Brent Magna (Ethan Hawke) must get behind the wheel and follow the orders of a mysterious man (Jon Voight) to save his kidnapped wife. He is aided on his race against time by an anonymous, computer savvy girl known just as The Kid (Selena Gomez).[2]

Cast

Production

The film was shot in two production parts. The first part of filming occurred in May 2012 in Sofia, Bulgaria. Filming was put on hold for summer 2012 as Ethan Hawke had other prior movie project commitments. Filming resumed in Atlanta, Georgia in September 2012.[3]

Release

The film will be released in the United States on August 30, 2013[4] and in the United Kingdom on October 4, 2013[5].
