The World Cultural Council is an international organization, based in Mexico, whose objectives are to promote culture, values and goodwill throughout the world. One of the means by which it strives to do so is by granting the Albert Einstein World Award of Science, the José Vasconcelos World Award of Education, and the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts to outstanding personalities whose work has had a significantly positive impact on the cultural legacy of mankind. The members of the Council include several Nobel Prize laureates.
It was in 1981, backed by distinguished scholars, university presidents and organization executives from the world over, that the World Cultural Council was founded and, in 1984, the first Award Ceremony took place.
The World Cultural Council is composed of a directing body headed by an Honorary President, Vice-president, Executive Director Contact Executive Director, Secretary General Contact Secretary General and an Interdisciplinary Committee made up of outstanding scientific, artistic and educational personalities.
The Interdisciplinary Committee evaluates annually the candidates nominated to participate in the Albert Einstein World Award of Science, the José Vasconcelos World Award of Education and the Leonardo da Vinci World Award of Arts Awards.
The World Cultural Council is constituted by a Directive Board presided by Prof. Edmond H. Fischer and an Interdisciplinary Committee formed by eminent scientific personalities in sixty countries over the world.
Mission
The final objective of the organization is to increase the efficient and positive use of knowledge and to promote fraternity among people, nations and governments, looking for a true understanding among all, based on the respect for the ideology, opinion, religion, race, and gender of each person.
Vision
The World Cultural Council will maintain and further its commitment to select, recognize and reward international excellence in the fields of science, education and arts, by annually granting its awards to those people across the globe who tirelessly persist in their respective discipline, striving for the progress of mankind.
Through those endeavors, the World Cultural Council aspire to make a contribution to a culture which brings the inhabitants of this planet towards a better world, in which ideological, ethnic, social and all other differences are respected, and where prejudice against and suspicion of what is different are ended, a culture that promotes progress by improving the quality of lives and the ecological environment, and fulfills everyone's life with enriched attainments.
Directive Board
The Directive Board receives support from private grants through a Board of Trustees.
The World Cultural Council acknowledges individuals or institutions that have made outstanding achievements in science, education and the arts by means of its awards.
Objectives
The most important objectives of the World Cultural Council are:
- To establish relations with the most important scientific, cultural, educational and social institutions throughout the world.
- To collect data and useful research aimed at improving the social, cultural, moral and spiritual advancement of humankind.
- To reward that scientific research which brings progress to mankind.
- To integrate scientists, educators and researchers at the highest level in order to maintain a constant and enriching communication.
- To recognize educational contributions that have had a significant influence on the advancement of the scope of culture.
- To promote art in all its expressions and to reward those artists whose work is most deserving of world recognition.
