Talkback

Hello, SefBau. You have new messages at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pathrose Parathuvayalil.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Greenbank Public School, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sandbox (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Welcome to Wikipedia's deletion process

Greetings, SefBau, and welcome to Wikipedia's deletion process! Thank you for your contributions. As a newcomer, it may be helpful for you to read Wikipedia's deletion policy, and the pages describing the articles for deletion process, proposed deletion, and speedy deletion. Remember that deletion debates are not votes, and reasons matter, especially reasons relating to the central content policies of verifiability, neutral point of view, no original research, and what Wikipedia is not, and to the consensual community guidelines for biographies, corporations, music, and fiction. Also remember that deletion is not always the answer to a bad article. Feel free to drop me a line at my talk page if you have any questions. Again, welcome! Tango Café

Thank you, SefBau, I greatly appreciate your taking the time to advise and comment on the creation of the Tango Café page. Not sure if this is the correct place to address the concerns. If not, I apologize and please enlighten me.

There were two criticisms: one that the piece "read like a biography" of the owner. Three sentences out of nine mentioned her name. I have eliminated the last two references. (As a newbie with wikipedia, I don't really see the references as excessive, but so be it. )

The other issue was the use of videos as references. There were six articles referenced from newspapers. There were seven references to "The Tango Cafe Legacy" video series, of which five were interviews or discussions. Their purpose was to document the Tango Café's role in Pittsburgh as a cultural center in multiple dimensions. To me, again as a new contributor, these seem more "verifiable" than many printed and broadcast sources. They don't qualify as "self-published", in the sense that the author/videographer of the series, Victor Beltrán, was not a subject or a participant. (I did fail to include the author's name.) In any case, they may be republished the Latin American Cultural Union or the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; I don't know if that makes them more suitable as references or not.

The remaining references document music performances and art shows at the Café; I can see the problem with including them in the reference section. I wonder whether some of these are suitable for inclusion via an "External Links" section or side-bar?

I greatly appreciate the chance to contribute to wikipedia; with time I will master the authoring skills. Thank you! Notsofeo (talk) 23:47, 14 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

CSD pointers

Hi Sef! I just deleted an article you tagged for CSD, and wanted to give you a quick tip on tagging for deletion. The article in question (Davy vara) was a pretty clear A7 (didn't assert notability about the subject), but you also tagged it as a G10 (attack page). I read it over and it didn't seem like an attack to me. Usually, we only tag things as attack pages when they're pretty blatant. Good call on the A7, though. Keep up the good work, and feel free to ask me anytime if you have questions. Best, Keilana|Parlez ici 08:21, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the fast action. I tagged it as an attack since for me the article somehow stated potential libelous information without sources. Sorry about that, next time I'll be careful. SefBau :  msg  08:29, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's totally okay, and sometimes a G10 is a matter of interpretation. It was getting deleted either way. I look forward to seeing you around! :) Keilana|Parlez ici 08:51, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, I hope so too - busy with some things. I'll just familiarize myself first. :) Take care. SefBau :  msg  11:05, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Joe Lipa

Ok, no problem, i'll try to find a way to add my source — Preceding unsigned comment added by Edmon74 (talkcontribs)

Thanks for complying. :) SefBau :  msg  11:05, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing you are newish around here

Thanks for pointing out the similar editing patterns. I've opened a sockpuppetry report for those with the toolset to check them out. It;s pretty easy to do, but it helps if you have a tool like Twinkle. Doing it manually is a pain in the fundament Fiddle Faddle 15:24, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the head's up. I've supported your report and added my explanation. Yes, I'm new around here. I'm using Twinkle aswell, I'm just not sure if it's true sockpuppetry, but since you did it thanks! :) Have a great day! SefBau :  msg  16:47, 15 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Same concept, different note, but I thought I wouldn't include it under the same heading. It's great that you've jumped straight into some of the more complicated stuff but please do be careful when deciding whether something should be nominated for deletion. WP:BEFORE (as in "before you nominate something for deletion") is an important step in the process. It encourages you to check for sources that might not be present in the article but might be available. Improving an article with sources is always a better option than deleting - remember we are here to build an encyclopaedia. This nomination, for example, probably wasn't a very good idea. Just remember that the notability of subjects isn't judged on the sources currently listed in articles, but on the availability of sources that cover the subject. Don't just nominate articles for deletion because they contain no sources - nominate them if, after doing your own search, you can't find any sources that could be added. Yeah? Happy hunting! Hello, thanks for the suggestions and I will definitely follow it. Pardon me for my ignorance. That's why at first I tagged it for BLPPROD, my mistake was I didn't do my own research for the references. Maybe I was lazy at that time since I'm using my mobile phone when I nominated that article. Thanks again!! SefBau :  msg  12:06, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No problem at all. From what I can tell, 90% of what you've done (maybe more) is good quality stuff. Not a bad strike rate at all for a newbie! Keep it up!
But you're gonna hate me - I'm starting to think Ingrid Lukas might also be notable enough for inclusion. Sorry. She was part of the official Swiss Government-appointed talent roster for the London 2012 Olympics; part of the House of Switzerland. It's not the strongest claim for notability but it might just get her over the line. Anyway, I'll post a comment at the AFD and we'll see what everyone else thinks. Cheers! Stalwart111 12:54, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, saw your edits, well done! You're practically re-made the article in a way fits WP standards. I'll be cautious on my actions next time. :) SefBau :  msg  12:59, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yep, I don't like suggesting something should be kept at AFD without at least trying to clean it up a bit, especially where the :need for a clean-up has been raised during the discussion. Anyway, have commented at the AFD with regard to the cultural exchange stuff. Cheers, Stalwart111 13:37, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I was notified. Lets just wait for additional consensus. have a great day! :) SefBau :  msg  13:47, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you too! Stalwart111 14:16, 16 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Gabriella Romano article.

I feel you had no authority to remove an article with a reference towards Disney Channel. This article had been written with extremely close judgement towards the truth and lies of what could have possibly been said, I'd rather my article is not removed next time I re-write it, thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laurynjreid (talkcontribs) 13:09, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Good day! I reverted your edit as I assume good faith. I have every right to remove unsourced information that you added. You tagged Disney, but where is the link to your claim? That is another unsourced claim that can't be proven. Thanks for your contribution but to have unsourced info about a biography in WP is not needed, however you are welcome to add independent sources. :) SefBau :  msg  13:22, 17 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to HISTORY (South Korean Boy Group) may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "{}"s. If you have, don't worry, just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.
