Joe Steve Ó Neachtain

Joe Steve Ó Neachtain, is an Irish actor and playwright, most notabily known for the drama Ros na Rún.

Career

Ó Neachtain portrays Peadar Ó Conghaile in the Irish language drama, Ros na Rún. A native of An Spidéal, he first appeared on the programme in 1996. He has acted on stage in Taibhdhearc na Gaillimhe, while for the past ten years he has written and acted in the RTÉ Raidió na Gaeltachta drama, Baile an Drochid.

He has written a number of plays, including Ni Maith Leat dom do Tribloid, which was performed at An Taibhdhearc in 2006.

Biography

He states that his mother is the most influential person in his life, that his father died when he was nine. He states that he was illiterate when he left school.

He married his girlfriend Máirín in 1969.

In his spare time he enjoys reading biographies, poetry and short stories. He is a qualified plasterer and "is always working on stone work and camper vans."

Idir Shúgradh agus Dáiríre (In Jest and in Earnest) is an award-nominated 2005 TG4 funded documentary film on Joe Steve Ó Neachtain by Mac Dara Ó Curraidhín.
