Ai Ōtomo (大友 愛, Ōtomo Ai , born March 24, 1982 in Sendai) is a female volleyball player from Japan. Her name before the divorce is Ai Yamamoto.(山本 愛)
Career
- She competed at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, wearing the number #13 jersey. She took fifth place with the Japan women's national team. She played as a middle-blocker.
- In 2006, she was two months pregnant when she had a shotgun wedding with Tatsuo Yamamoto, a professional beach volleyball player.
- In 2008, Hisamitsu Springs announced that she would return to active duty.
- In 2009, she moved to JT Marvelous.
In September 2011, due to a right knee injury, Japan Volleyball Association announced that she would not play in the World Cup.[1]
In April 2013 JT annouced her retirement.[2]
On 8 August 2013, Ai married Hiroyuki Akimoto who is a Judoka.[3]
