Ashfield railway station, Sydney
Template:Infobox CityRail station
Ashfield railway station is located in the Sydney suburb of Ashfield and is on the Main Suburban railway line. It has five platforms (two city bound, two outward bound, and one used as a turnback to the city). The station is served by the South, the Inner West lines of the Sydney Trains network.
The station has Easy Access facilities accessed from the overhead pedestrian bridge, incorporating the booking office. Before completion of those facilities, the platforms were accessed from two pedestrian subways which incorporated separate booking offices. The western subway remains as a pedestrian thoroughfare. The station is accessible from Brown Street (at the Hercules Street intersection) or from Station Street.
There is semi-secure cycle parking provided with racks available on both the northern and southern sides of the station. There is access to a number of cycle friendly routes to both the harbour and the city and to the south and west.
History
The station was opened on 26 September 1855, as part of the original Sydney to Parramatta railway line.[1]
The Main Suburban Railway Line through Ashfield was quadruplicated in 1892,[2] and sextuplicated in 1927 in association with electrification works. [3] In 2000 the station was largely rebuilt with a new concrete aerial concourse and Easy Access facilities for disabled passengers. [4]

The station is served by four to eight trains per hour each way, with additional trains during weekday peak hours.
