John T. Apthorp (December 24, 1769- April 8, 1849) was a banker, Lieut Col of the First Corps of Cadets (Massachusetts)[1], , brother-in law of Charles Bulfinch,Harrison Gray Otis (politician) and grandson of Charles Apthorp.

Was born on on Dec 24 1769 to John Apthorp and Hannah Greenleaf who perished at sea. He and his two sisters were raised by their maternal grandfather Stephen Greenleaf the last Royal high sheriff of Suffock County][2]. Harvard 1792, Harvard Law 1896. He was the President of the Suffock Ins Co and Bank Boston, the Treasurer and Receiver-General of Massachusetts 1812-1817.
